We were lucky to catch up with Kamelia Aghakhani recently and have shared our conversation below.
Kamelia, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you tell us about a time where you or your team really helped a customer get an amazing result?
One memorable instance of helping a customer involved a woman who was seeking a unique and sentimental way to preserve her wedding flowers. She wanted to turn her cherished bouquet into timeless pieces of jewelry and approached us at one of our in-person markets to ask us if we were able to meet this request. Recognizing the importance of the task, my sister and I eagerly took on the project, drawing on our experience with similar orders. Upon receiving her dried bouquet, we carefully examined each petal, taking into account the different hues and delicate textures to craft the perfect design. Then with meticulous care and attention to detail, extracted each petal to preserve with resin in our handmade frames; resulting in an elegant jewelry set that encapsulated the essence of her love story. The results were beautiful and deeply meaningful as they were more than just jewelry—they were symbols of her love and everlasting memories of her special day. Being part of this process was truly touching, allowing us to create something that held profound sentimental value beyond its aesthetic appeal.

Kamelia, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am the co-founder of L&K Elegance, a handmade nature jewelry business. My sister and I began selling our designs during the pandemic. It was in this period that we discovered our passion for resin jewelry—an art form that allowed us to merge our love for nature with our creativity. Our journey started with humble beginnings, as we experimented with resin and honed our skills through countless trials and errors. However, as we refined our craft, we realized the potential to turn our hobby into something more. Thus, we took the leap and listed some of our designs on Etsy, opening the door to a world of opportunity. What sets us apart is our process and commitment to quality. Every piece of jewelry we create is built with care and attention to detail, starting from the careful selection of flowers to the careful handcrafting of our wire frames. We take pride in using premium quality resin that not only preserves the beauty of nature but also ensures longevity, resisting yellowing over time. I am filled with pride at how far we have come and the growth we have achieved. Beyond the success of our business, the experience has been a transformative one, teaching us invaluable lessons and new skills along the way. At the heart of our brand lies a deeper purpose—to remind our wearers of their inherent beauty, just like the natural world that inspires our creations. We want all our wearers to know that they are as beautiful as the flowers used to create our jewelry. With each piece, we hope to inspire confidence, strength, and an appreciation for the beauty that surrounds us all.

How did you build your audience on social media?
I was able to build an audience on social media through sharing our process and behind the scenes. By far, the best performing posts are our process videos of our jewelry creation. People were fascinated by the craftsmanship and artistry behind each piece, finding satisfaction in watching the transformation unfold before their eyes. Posting authentic quality content consistently proved to be key in maintaining our social media presence. And while it may be challenging it truly does make a difference. For those just starting, I would offer this advice: establish a consistent posting schedule and prioritize quality content. While it can be overwhelming at times, remember that taking breaks from social media is normal and necessary for keeping up your creativity and energy levels. Building a presence on social media is a journey, and by staying true to your craft and engaging with your audience authentically, you’ll steadily grow your following and attract new clients along the way.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
One thing that has helped build our reputation is client reviews. The positive feedback and testimonials from our customers have served as powerful endorsements of our pieces. These reviews validate the quality and craftsmanship of our jewelry and also instill trust and confidence in potential customers. Other factors I think have helped are being responsive to customer questions, providing quality product photos, and maintaining an active presence on social media which has been key to building credibility within our market. By sharing our story, process, and behind-the-scenes insights with our audience, we’ve been able to connect with potential customers on a deeper level and build a community around our brand.
