Keira, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
Everviolet is on a mission to support women through all stages and phases of life. From puberty to menopause, our adaptive intimate apparel offers comfort, support and sustainable elegance following body changes resulting from surgery, illness, disability, injury, aging and more.
The collection was actually born out of my personal experience with breast cancer. Following a bilateral mastectomy, I tried on over 200 bras, and none of them worked. I identified a massive hole in the lingerie market and found that there was no brand of lingerie offering function, fashion and eco-friendly fabrics combined. The more women I spoke with, the more I learned how universal this issue was – not just for women facing breast cancer but for those facing a myriad of other physical challenges as well. Furthermore, the inability to start each day with comfort and ease represented a barrier to healing, negatively impacting quality of life. It was with this realization that vowed to pay my good prognosis forward and solve this problem for others.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Sure! I was born in Boston and made my way to the San Francisco Bay Area in the late 90’s. I have background is in e-commerce, branding and art/design. I’ve infused these skills as well as my passion for color into the Everviolet collection. Our styles adapt to a wide range of physical conditions including: Breast & GYN cancers; heart surgery, C sections, hysterectomy, skin allergies and sensitivities, mobility and dexterity issues, MS, arthritis, Fibromyalgia, menopause and more. Made with the softest sustainable jersey and luxe lace, they accommodate breast forms, heating & cooling packs, ostomy bags and can be stepped into for easy wear.
I’m most proud of our mission to support women as we evolve. Aging with grace, comfort and ease is paramount to quality of life. Handmade with the utmost attention to quality, our collection is produced in small batches to avoid waste. We also use recycled and compostable packaging and shipping materials.
At the heart of Everviolet is our community. Open to all, we lift each other up with resources, support and empowerment and are committed to holistic health and wellness.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
It takes great resilience to navigate a cancer diagnosis. From the moment one hears the words “you have cancer,” one is plummeted into an anxiety-ridden flurry of doctor referrals, tests, pre-surgery planning, treatment options, all the while trying to process a new reality. Post treatment, one is left to find oneself again – physically and emotionally changed forever, and with a constant fear or recurrence.
My breast cancer experience has forced me to build strength and resilience in my mind, body and spirit. Now, these skills apply directly to my business. With cancer, I had to find the right experts, educate myself about treatment options and cancer behaviors and maintain focus and optimism alike amidst treatment. In parallel, with Everviolet, I had to find the right team, learn new skills, drill down on details pertaining to every aspect of business and manufacturing, as well as drive the broader brand vision.
The strength I developed navigating illness applies directly to resilience of my business and my mission to make the world a better place for others. Turning a challenging experience into good is what motivates me every day.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Connecting directly with customers, in an authentic and emotional way, has been the most effective strategy for growing our clientele. Most women who find us are navigating a challenging life experience, suffering from physical discomfort and emotional unrest due to negative body image. We are here to help by offering them comfort and ease, and ultimately, promoting more confidence and positivity. We do this through great customer care, and we offer complimentary fit consultations via Live Chat, email as well as in person, by appointment.
The Everviolet brand is rooted in innovation and awareness. We educate customers on the ways our garments can promote comfort, and we educate our retail partners on the huge quantity of people they have needing our product (nearly 60% of US females!). Prior to our launch, there was no other brand available to meet the needs of so many physical challenges — people didn’t even know they can ask for what we offer! Now, they can.
Embracing change and self-acceptance are paramount in the Everviolet experience. Through authenticity and compassion, we’re bringing inclusivity in fashion to the medical world.
