Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Nicki Hennessey. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Nicki, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
One of the biggest risks I’ve taken is opening Collective Dimensions and quitting my full-time job in order to do so. There were so many things to consider, such as, health insurance, steady paychecks, and retirement funds. At some point I realized if I needed to go back to a full-time job, I could, and these were all still available to me. I still had the same skill set and qualifications if I needed to jump back into a full-time corporate job. I quit my full-time corporate job n August of 2019 and started developing a client base and plan. In March of 2020 Covid hit and I needed to decide if I was going to continue to move forward or go back. I decided to continue forward and opened Collective Dimensions in October of 2020, working the restrictions Covid had placed upon us. My dad was a small business owner, so I did have an idea of the ups and downs of owning and running a business. Technology, however, was new to me. Fortunately, I had a team of younger people to help me though the technological side of things. So, when I say Collective Dimensions, I truly mean this is a collective effort, from the business side to the artists, practitioners and consigners, we have created a great team.
Nicki, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am Nicki Hennessey. and everything in the metaphysical world started for me when I started practicing meditation. Through this I was called to get trained in Reiki Energy Healing. From there I learned tarot and started taking psychic development classes, where I found my real passion was my connection to spirit. In 2016 I decided to start doing spiritual work part time. As time went on, I realized I needed a space to do my practice that was aligned with my spiritual beliefs, and so did many others. This led me to creating what we now know as Collective Dimensions.
Here at Collective Dimensions, we are passionate about our mission, vision and values; to awaken individual and collective awareness, to create a pathway for connection and enlightenment, and to foster inclusion, compassion, love and oneness.
Our goal is to provide people with steppingstones on their journey, wherever it may lead them. Many of our practitioners trained here, and now have started their own spiritual businesses that they run out of Collective Dimensions. I love to see them progress, grow and be successful.
Practitioners at Collective Dimensions are passionate about engaging, welcoming and guiding our community on their spiritual path, providing a safe place, of comfort and support.
At Collective Dimensions, we have a large variety of metaphysical products and supplies, as well as Spiritual classes and groups, and practitioners who provide the following services: Tarot/Oracle Readings, Reiki Energy Healing, Mediumship Readings, Akashic Record Readings, Sound Healing, Massage, Light Language and SO much more.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
One of the main factors that helped build our reputation is consistency. We know who we are, we know our values and we have a strong ethical code we stand by.
Knowing we are each responsible for the energy we bring to the collective, we promote self-healing, and are mindful of all spiritual paths- we don’t choose one over another.
We strive to bring ethical and affordable holistic healing and spiritual services to people of all economic levels.
We promote an atmosphere of cooperation over competition. We believe a client should never leave feeling frightened, unsafe or unsure of what to do next, and we do not make them feel obligated to come back for further services.
When faced with decisions on which way to move forward, we work together as a Collective to make sure the move we make is what’s best for the highest good of all; the community, the practitioners, the business, and everyone involved.
When it comes to building our reputation, it’s very important that we trust each other, and the community trusts us to work for the highest good of all.
Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
Other than training and knowledge I believe to succeed in this field you must know who you are, what your goals are and who your target market is. This is a good starting point to determine your location, your pricing, your marketing and all that owning a business encompasses. Knowing how much time and effort you plan to pour into your business is also very crucial. Be honest with yourself, do you have the drive and capability to fully engulf yourself into a full-time business or is this something you’re going to do very part time. Another thing that is helpful is understanding it takes time to build clientele. Small businesses, no matter what field take time to grow. Understand that you will face changes and evolve. My first goal was just to make enough to pay the business’s rent. Remember to start with small goals and remember the energy in this field is very important, you never want to come from a place of lack or frustration.
