We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Dylan Nierstedt. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Dylan below.
Hi Dylan, thanks for joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
Elated is a monthly magazine publication featuring artists from around the world. The mission behind Elated Magazine is to showcase and support those artists. I carefully curate each piece within a monthly theme which hosts a space to celebrate people and what they’re passionate about. The goal is to help artists reach new horizons, make connections, and feel Elated.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’ve always loved the arts; visual art, music, fashion, and everything else in between. The things that I like or find interesting really inspire me and this idea of continuing to support the creators in my life has helped form Elated. For the last fifteen years I’ve been helping people in my life elevate their art and reach audiences they otherwise wouldn’t reach by promoting them. I have a lot of friends with immense talent who aren’t great at selling themselves, but having someone who not only believes in their art but also has strong social media skills has helped them to keep at it and grow. This idea has inspired me to continue to share cool things beyond my circle, where we’ve grown and reached creators across five continents. I love what I do and am very proud of each issue. I can’t wait to see the future of Elated.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I think what helped Elated get to where it is today is my ability to connect with so many different kinds of people. I’ve never been afraid to be myself and I think that this helps me build trust and puts people at ease. I sincerely love to support all of the artists who have contributed to Elated and feel like my connections with them are genuine. When there’s a genuine connection there is mutual love and support.
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
The stuff I like could be considered “edgy,” and I definitely approach Elated’s philosophy through this lens. The media that inspires Elated’s aesthetic are anime, video games, essays on social commentary and memes. I’m a big fan of Neon Genesis Evangelion, Hideo Kojima’s Metal Gear Solid video game series, and books by Camille Paglia.
