We recently connected with Morgan Brock and have shared our conversation below.
Morgan, appreciate you joining us today. Can you take us back in time to the first dollar you earned as a creative – how did it happen? What’s the story?
I will never forget the time I booked my first gig I was an independent artist. I was submitting myself via casting360. After an extensive interview process I was chosen as a contestant on Fox Network reality television series Home Free season 2. I had been working on the show for two weeks, I was sequestered and was finally able to see my phone. Well the first thing I checked was my bank account to keep track of my debt and to my surprise there was more money than expected. I discovered that I was being paid weekly from production. Now that made the entire idea of being a television star even better.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Coming to Atlanta, Ga from Chicago, Illinois in July of 2015. I had no idea of the journey that lie ahead of me. I was fresh out of college with a BS in Finance and a ton of financial career opportunities I was not interested in. All I knew, I was going to be a World Renowned Actor someday and for me the how didn’t matter.
I have always valued art of any form. My list would look like:
1. Singing
2. Dancing
3. Acting
4. Sculptures/Paintings
Having been in pursuit of my acting career for quite sometime now, here is my new list:
1. Acting
2. Acting
3. Acting.
I was young and a diamond in the rough. I JUST KNEW I would book a ton of movies and shows because I was out-going and I was cute. If you want to make God laugh tell him your plans right? There was favor on my life when I mangaed to book a reality show as my first ever gig and only six months after leaving my home town to start a new life of discovery in Atlanta. Ga.
I was so Green to eveything. Yet, determined and one of God’s favorite fools. No matter how many challenges, rough times, not enough finances, tears, wrestless nights or No’s I got. I continue to pursue the promise that I have on my life.
Humbling myself and understanding that all NO’ s make room for the next opportunity is where I find my passion as an Actor. Having humility and realizing that real work has to be put in to make it in this career is where I find my space to grow.
I want this sort of self realization for everyone. That is the driving force that keeps me going. I plan to use my Art to inspire everyone but especially my people (family & friends) to do the same. Do what feels good for you and see it through on all of your commitments no matter how difficult it maybe.
I still have some distance to go on the road ahead of me. My work to this day is as follows:
3 Stageplays Co-Starring in two and supporting for the other
– The Power of Forgiveness 21
– True to My Religion
– The Girl You Thought You Knew
5 Films and TV Shows mainly streaming on Tubi
– Swippers
– Black Excellence
– Intimate Confessions
– He Who Findeth
– Mason
I have films and more series coming out. As well as I am still booking.
Ultimately there are many layers to really being successful in an entertainment career. My dream is to master using every layer of myself to be the most positive influence on those who are watching. I want to always set a great example for the people who care about what I do.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I have a business background. Having won scholarship money doing business plan competitions as a junior and senior during high school. Following that, by studying Finance.
When I first moved I begin working at Wells Fargo Bank to make sure aI could support myself. I worked for GA Dept. of Revenue and Ga Dept. of Human Service. I quickly learned that a 9-5 Mon. Through Fri. work schedule interfered with my dreams of being an Actor.
I went to bartending school learned how to make drinks. I transitioned to the bartending and serving lifestyle allowing me the quick cash and work schedule flexibility I needed.
For a little while I worked in the office at day and the club on weekends at night. Within 1 year I was doing well enough to completely quit working in the corporate world.
Pretty soon I will be making a similar transistion out of the hospitality industry and solely into my entertainment career.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
I am sure non-creatives think why do the creatives of the world choose to struggle. I mean struggle as in the instability of this journey.
There are extremely high, highs and some really low, lows when it comes to a career that you are always interviewing for a new role or position. Where unfortunately someone’s self worth may depend on being told yes or no for a booking.
I want to acknowledge that this is the space where discipline is built. The love and passion for being the best version of yourself so that you will always hear YES even when the answer is no because you are so internally rich that you understand the no only makes room for an even better YES.
For me being spiritually rich is worth the sacrifice of financial stability because my soul is getting what it needs.
