We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jahmaal Marshall. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jahmaal below.
Alright, Jahmaal thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. If you had a defining moment that you feel really changed the trajectory of your career, we’d love to hear the story and details.
I was working in administration and training to get certified in counseling. I had already had my degree so I was anxious to get to get to work. The days were long and I often got bored with the load of administration work given to me. I thought about quitting. I took a 4 day cabin trip and realized that there was a trail by fire for me to develop in character prior to taking on a full caseload of different people. When I returned the President of the organization let me know that they were transferring me to the counseling department. I had settled in my heart that I would be the best administrator and come into work with a great attitude.
Some lessons here are, when you are getting ready to level up, you will get tested.
Jahmaal, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I started creating organic videos in January 2020. Without trying I found a way to relate to my audience and resonate on an organic level. I had to be careful because I was speaking to everyone. I had to learn to niche down and speak to my former self (Overworked, burned out, bringing more to the table than what was necessary) It was pretty strange how this brand caught fire because when it did, it opened the door to Brand Sponsorships and partnerships.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
Atomic Habits and the Seven Habits of Highly effective people have significantly impacted the manner in which I reason. One of the best quotes by Stephen Covey is to seek to Understand rather than being Understood. This principle is key in navigating both business and professional relationships. We cannot build consensus and grow in relationships unless we seek to understand both family, friends, clients and business partners.
