We recently connected with Jonathan Perazzo and have shared our conversation below.
Jonathan, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s go back in time to when you were an intern or apprentice – what’s an interesting story you can share from that stage of your career?
Before becoming a lawyer I decided to make sure that it was right for me. I worked at the Florida Stat Attorney’s Office as a Victim/Witness Counselor and got a first hand view of the impact I could make. After law school, my parents both fell deathly ill and I had to take care of them. I could not work a typical 9-5 job. Instead, I went to “intern” for a well-known attorney. I didn’t ask for a pay check. Instead, I asked for experience; boy, did I get it. I spent every minute there learning the ropes — and doing all the work. I had an unimaginable drive to show my parents what I could do before they passed away and nothing could stop me. I was harder on myself than any boss, or client. could ever be. That persistence and attitude stayed with me and allowed me the confidence to invest in myself and my talents. Without that trial-by-fire I don’t think I would be where I am today.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I became a personal injury lawyer quite organically. Throughout my years I have build up a reputation of dedication, honesty, trust, and hard work. This reputation spread amongst my peers and throughout my community. Ultimately, my dedication to my craft became apparent and people trusted me with their problems. Unlike most normal people, I feel honored when someone brings me their problems. It’s hard for me to say no to fixing a problem as I find the challenge of fixing things to be my calling. The pace that I maintain, and the energy that I put out at my age, is hard to match. My friends can attest that if you were to spend some time with me, you would probably need a mid-afternoon nap from following me around.
As to my biggest wins: It is difficult for me to explain some of the biggest wins I have experienced in my career as there are non-disclosure agreements, and ethical considerations, in place when dealing with some of my higher-value claims. That said, I can confidently say that I have gone above-and-beyond in my career for clients that have no idea how fortunate they were that I did.
One word of advice that everyone in Florida should listen to would be: Get stacked collision and uninsured motorist coverage from a reputable carrier (such as GEICO); also, install a dash cam for your car. These two things should be mandatory!

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Simply put: I am! It’s very difficult to choose a good lawyer. There is no way to really know if they are going to care about your claim and do the best possible job for you. Once people meet me in person, or speak to me online, they get to see who they are hiring and that makes all the difference. Having a busy and successful practice sometimes detracts from the personal touch but, I always make myself available to my clients.
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
I put it all on the line for my business because I believed in myself and my ability to make things happen. I risked everything I had and maxed out every credit card I had to in order to build my company. Needless to say, I am very invested in the success of my law firm. My mother and father were not rich; they weren’t very formally educated either. I came from a household of immigrants that barely spoke English and I lost my parents as I graduated law school. Their memory, and my credit cards, initially funded my firm.
Now, years later, we are extremely successful (more than I could have dreamed). The firm is very much debt-free and funded by our stellar performance and my desire to leave my children something beautiful in the future.
