Sensing my uncertainty, my dad sat me down and reiterated his timeless mantra: pay yourself first. He explained that by setting aside a portion of my earnings for personal savings and investments before attending to other financial obligations, I would not only secure my future but also lay the groundwork for long-term financial success.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
In 2012, the seeds of Ironclad Homes LLC were sown when my husband and I, fueled by a shared passion for real estate, seized the opportunity to purchase 40 foreclosed lots from Omni Bank. Excitement coursed through our veins as we envisioned the possibilities that lay ahead.
However, our optimism was soon met with a harsh reality when every bank, citing our lack of experience in new construction, denied us the loan we so desperately needed to kickstart our venture. It was a blow that left us reeling, uncertain of how to proceed. Enter the late Larry Green, a beacon of hope in the form of a city councilman, whose timely advice proved to be our saving grace. With his guidance, we pivoted our strategy, selling a portion of our lots to a larger builder and using the proceeds to fund our project. And thus, armed with determination and a newfound sense of resilience, we embarked on our journey in the world of real estate, brick by brick, forging our path towards success.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Our clientele has primarily grown through organic means, predominantly through word-of-mouth referrals. The cornerstone of our strategy lies in the quality of our workmanship and the lasting impression it leaves on our clients. By prioritizing both visual appeal and structural integrity, we’ve cultivated a reputation for delivering exceptional homes that stand the test of time.
