We recently connected with Shalise McClure and have shared our conversation below.
Shalise, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
Our mission is to “Make it Happen”. Real Enterprise is a management and consulting company in the music industry. We work hard to bring opportunities to independent music artist. It’s a very meaningful mission for me because it’s super hard making money and getting equal opportunities as independent artist. Being a Woman in this male dominated industry is equally hard so I pride myself in doing the best I can in bringing opportunities to women. We work hard on a daily prompting and curating event and opportunities for all music artist.
Shalise, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Shalise McClure from West Haven CT. I grew up loving music and grew up singing and being apart of music at an early age. My first opportunity working in the music industry is with a gospel group Youthful Praise working behind the scene helping artist for the live recording. After that I took on different events and curated my own events for artist. The major opportunity that gave me an insight as a manager working with artist was my opportunity as Mogul/ Entrepreneur/ Reality TV Influencer Yandy Smith Harris. I was her assistant in 2016 and work d side by side with her and team. There I got the opportunity to work on major projects she managed and also curated. Being apart of this gave me the spark to help other artist and I took everything I learned to Real Enterprise . I never thought I would get the opportunities I did after this I worked on different projects on my own and applied and received the opportunity to become the mentee to Amber Grimes who is the GM/ VP of LVRN Records. All this to say NEVER give up. I use all this to fuel me to work harder and stand on what I believe in this music industry. Now I’m managing my own artist R&B Saige Noelle of CT and Nigerian Rapper Cleeeco out of Miami.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I think what helped me build my reputation within my market is persistence. Even when I wanted to give I never did and I sat and on my word. I curate events and people come because they know I make sure I give the best effort that they have a good time always! I make everyone feel special.
Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
Managing a team is not easy and not for the weak. When you’re managing someone you are literally managing their life’s. You have to have a passion for it and patience’. I would say have a clear line of communication with your team and clients. Be open and give your opinion but with a clear view and solution.
