We were lucky to catch up with Marion Elarms recently and have shared our conversation below.
Marion, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Was there an experience or lesson you learned at a previous job that’s benefited your career afterwards?
The most important lesson that I learned from my job was to not have bias towards others. I am former employer of the department of protective and family services. I am currently transitioning to Empower. Learning to continue to advocate for families and children has been a growing and learning experience from both career opportunities.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I had been a teacher for 16 years. I transitioned into the department of family and protective services in the conservativeship department in 2022 I am currently working for Empower the company focuses on using education and advocacy to strengthen families. I am proud to be able to help families with resources and services they are in need of using a positive perspective of keeping families together and proving support
Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
Having passion and caring for others and wanting to give back to the community
If you could go back, would you choose the same profession, specialty, etc.?
Yes I would choose the same profession
