We were lucky to catch up with Rachel Rhodes recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Rachel thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?

The name of my brand is literally the best representation of me. I was born July 7th which is the 7th month of the year and the 7th day. My last name is Rhodes . So you add that together and boom Seventh Rhodes! My brand name is literally my favorite part of having my own business I always get compliments on it.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers

When it comes to fashion I have done literally everything. I started off just wanting to fit in so I would wear designers in highschool like black label , true religions, polo like you name it lol ! After highschool I was heavy into thrifting and making outfits my own. I was noticed very quickly for my style and because a stylist. I would style all kinds of people , host fashion shows , work behind the scenes in shows and also did a lot of creative directing . I always wanted my own boutique and I originally was supposed to start one with a friend but I wasn’t ready. I’ll even be honest and say at the time I didn’t believe I was able to run my own business at the time. Well the friend went on to start her own brand and about 4 years later so did I ! At first I was interesting in a boutique and selling wholesale items but quickly I realized I wanted to be bigger than that. I wanted to be Teflar BIG and I don’t care how like it takes to get there. So we quickly went from a boutique to a BRAND.

We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.

90% of my sales come from social media. I do have loyal followers who have supported me from the beginning . Although I have under 10k followers on social media I have made the most money on Instagram easily . I feel like I’m a good advocate for Making money on social media without a big following. I would tell anybody don’t get discouraged by the number of followers you have just start promoting and see what happens !

Do you have any stories of times when you almost missed payroll or any other near death experiences for your business?

I feel like the true key to success is consistency! It may sound easy but it’s easier said than done . I always think about Kobe Bryant and how he was in the gym every single day. You will never reach your goals by missing practice ! I feel like it I ever dropped any balls in business it was my lack of consistency but it’s something I’m always working on! I’m a cancer and we tend to procrastinate a lot but I’m a working progress and I’ll display that VERY SOON with my upcoming collection.
