We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sandra Jones-Keller. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sandra below.
Alright, Sandra thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
The work that I do is definitely an evolutionary process. I am first and foremost an energy healer. My approach is loving and gentle. I have over 25 years of experience assisting clients with releasing energy blocks that have paralyzed their lives. I support my clients to: heal wounds from past relationships; receive clarity and guidance on long-standing issues; move forward in their lives; feel more peaceful and anchored; have the courage to follow their dreams; release fears and anxiety; forgive themselves and others for past mistakes and missteps? A one hour sessions include: intuitive readings, energy clearing and balancing, discussion of Universal Laws and Principles, and lots of love and encouragement!
My Conscious Parenting Coaching is a natural extension of my energy healing work and my books. My husband and I noticed that many of the kids born today are unlike those from previous generations. These old souls are far more attuned to their connection to other people and the Universe. As my daughter puts it, “I know I’m part of something bigger.” With this in mind, we feel many parenting techniques from the past are outdated. Just doing something because our ancestors did it that way doesn’t make sense to us in this day and age. The times are different and the kids are different. So, what’s a parent to do?
Our answer was to lean into our spiritual teachings: incorporate the same methods that saved our relationship into our parenting style. Treat our daughter like the intelligent, conscious being that we know she is. Create a partnership with her for her upbringing, not a dictatorship. Provide a loving and supportive environment and seek out opportunities that excite and interest her. Stay away from “Because I said so!” and replace with “Because I asked you to.” Make requests, not demands. I work with parents to reduce power-struggles and foster more peace, joy and calm in their relationships with their kids.
Sandra, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
You know how parents can feel overwhelmed and frustrated by their independent, strong-willed kids? I give them tools to immediately reduce power-struggles, stress and anxiety. I’ve been happily homeschooling my teenage daughter for the past 11 years and I’ve written 3 books to give kids and adults more peace, power and joy in their lives: “Intuitive Communication With Your Baby’s Soul”, “21 Lessons to Empower the New Age Kid”, and “Tips & Trips of Parenting a New Age Kid”. My books work together beautifully to gently bring parenting into the 21st Century to be more aligned with the wise old souls that are being born today. I do this through Conscious Parenting Coaching and Energy Healing.
My books set the foundation for a visionary way of parenting. In my first book, “Intuitive Communication With Your Baby’s Soul”, I share the methods that I used to have a healthy and successful pregnancy in spite of two large fibroid tumors and how developing intuitive two-way communication with my unborn daughter established an undeniable awareness that my daughter is a spiritual being with a purpose all her own. This dictates how we talk to her and treat her and ushered in the beginning of our partnership to raising her.
“21 Lessons to Empower the New Age Kid”, helps build children’s confidence and teaches techniques to help them manage their emotions and responsibilities. It shows children how powerful they are through their thoughts, words, beliefs and positive actions. Additionally, it teaches kids how to ground (anchor) themselves so that they can think clearly, focus their mind and attention on a task, and regulate their moods. Novices and experts can easily use this workbook. Each lesson has parent and facilitator notes at the beginning of the section to assist you. Ultimately, 21 Lessons supports parents, caretakers, and educators in guiding children to have more agency over their own lives.
And my latest book, “Tips & Trips of Parenting a New Age Kid”, is a family labor of love. Along with my husband and daughter, we share endearing and engaging stories about parenting, life, and the lessons we’ve learned over 15 years. As the title suggests, we’ve had many hits and misses. But, with the consistent and persistent use of our spiritual tools, we always find our way back to peace and harmony.
One of the things that makes “Tips & Trips of Parenting a New Age Kid” unique is that many of the essays have dialogue which gives an intimate perspective of our family’s inner workings and dynamics. Experience firsthand how we work through issues that arise. Additionally, easy to use tools and techniques are shared that support our marriage and family, and foster a loving and supportive household. And “Tips & Trips of Parenting a New Age Kid” isn’t just for parents and caretakers. Illustrations and photos accompany several essays and tell a visual story that makes it viable for young readers to follow. My daughter’s pictures age from zero to 15 years old—making it an experience for the whole family to read and enjoy!
All books are available on Amazon.
I also have The Conscious Parenting Show on News for the Soul Radio which airs the second Friday of each month at 6pm ET. My husband and daughter join me on the show to dive deeper into some of the essays in “Tips & Trips of Parenting a New Age Kid.” Listeners can email in their questions which we answer live on air, and they get to hear the perspective of a teenager which is a rare opportunity.
We’d love to hear about you met your business partner.
My husband is not my necessarily my business partner, but he is integral in the journey of my parenting philosophy. We met at a Course In Miracles study group and this it where it all began…
Years ago, I attended a spiritual relationship retreat with my then-boyfriend, now-husband Thomas. I was armed with my list of issues I wanted to complain about to our teacher. I couldn’t wait to hash out all of my grievances concerning Thomas and the way he did things in front of someone who would sympathize with my plight. I was eager to hear how right I was from the other women in the group.
Imagine my disappointment when the first thing out of our teacher’s mouth was, “You are only in a relationship with yourself.” Say, what?
What about my list? I have some really good stuff on here, I wanted to ask, but didn’t.
“Everyone is a mirror of yourself,” she explained. “If you’re seeing or experiencing something in your life that you don’t like, look within to see where you’re doing it, or who you’re being.” I felt like she looked directly at me when she said this. I slouched in my seat to be less exposed.
I took a deep breath and tried to surrender to the experience. Maybe, just maybe this won’t be awful, I hoped. I had attended other meetings that had been enlightening and uplifting. Now, I would settle for satisfactory since my initial hopes had been squashed.
Let’s just say I walked away profoundly changed. I learned tools and techniques that not only improved my relationship with Thomas, but became the primary parenting practices we use with our daughter.
You see, too often, we as parents view our children’s attitudes and behaviors as separate from ourselves. As something outside of us that needs to be controlled or corrected if we consider it a problem—just like I did with Thomas before attending the relationship retreat. Stay with me here: but if/since “Everyone is a mirror of myself,” then my daughter is as well. As our teacher said, “If I’m seeing it, I’m being it.” Well, if I’m seeing Mecca do something that disturbs me, then after I get over my annoyance or irritation, I look within to see where I’m doing that thing. It is only from correcting it from within that I can shift my outer experiences of things that upset me.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Most of my new clients come from referrals, podcasts that I’ve done, and people who come across my website.
