We recently connected with Miriam Cruz and have shared our conversation below.
Miriam , appreciate you joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
I have always had a strong sense of purpose and a deep desire to make a positive impact on the world. Fortunately, I have been able to channel this passion into empowering women in the real estate industry and educating my clients through the sale or purchase of a property.
My name is Miriam Cruz and I’m the founder of Miriam Speaks. I am a successful real estate agent and empowerment coach in the Bay Area. Although I handle all aspects of real estate, my specialty is probate real estate, working with seniors, and coaching. As a former, Santa Clara County Court Supervisor, I have unique perspective on the legal side of the real estate industry. My extensive knowledge and experience have made me an invaluable resource to all of my clients.
I migrated to the United States when I was four years old. Since I can remember, I witnessed violence and abuse in my home. This abuse and neglect as a child led to many other challenges as I got older. Those challenges include dropping out of high school, spending time in the juvenile justice system, homelessness, drug addiction, struggling as a single mother, and later being diagnosed with postpartum depression.
Gratefully, however, I began to work on my personal development and began my healing journey. I wanted an education, a stable home, and most importantly, love, respect, healing, independence, and happiness. Resilient and determined to achieve those goals, I hired coaches, attended therapy, trainings, and discovered self-love. I began rebuilding my life and getting to know myself.
Now, my mission is to teach women how to use their past to fuel their future and to live a life without limits. In my coaching program, I teach women to enhance their confidence, release limiting beliefs, develop healthy boundaries, love themselves, and take massive immediate action.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I became a real estate agent because I wanted financial freedom and flexibility. I wanted to have the ability to spend time with my children without worrying about my employer approving or denying my time off request. I knew it wouldn’t be easy, but my commitment to transforming my family’s life was stronger than the fear and doubts I had.
As an agent, you get to decide how you work, when you work, and how you want to market yourself. You can outsource the tasks you don’t enjoy doing. Its your business, so you can essentially run it the way you want to; however, there is a lot of competition, so it is crucial to be organized. Since you are an entrepreneur, there could also be times that you go without a paycheck for extended periods of time, so managing your finances is crucial. Real estate agents are commission-based which means if you don’t sell, you don’t earn anything.
To succeed as a real estate agent, you need to have excellent customer service skills, manage your time effectively, build connections, follow up with leads or past clients, and maintain the highest level of integrity. With all of these valuable skills, you will be able to create meaningful connections are maintain flourishing business.
In my coaching program, We are the WiRe, women learn how to grow their business and make more money by running a purpose-driven business. This program teaches women how to release limiting beliefs, focus on a specific niche, find leads, create scripts that work, connect with leads, follow up with leads, and ultimately get hired. My goal is to empower and uplift women in the real estate industry, equipping them with the tools and skills necessary for their success. I believe in the power of connection and collaboration.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing clientele is fostering business relationships and always adding value to others. Many business owners are seeking to grow their business and focus on their needs and their growth first. In my opinion, its essential to focus on what the client needs and how you can help them.
Building strong relationships and establishing trust is a crucial in sales. This is key to gaining referrals, growing your business, and providing excellent customer service. When your customers trust you, they are more likely to refer you to others, and return to you when they need assistance again.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
As a former Country Clerk Supervisor, I have a unique perspective on the legal side of real estate. My experience has helped me lead my clients though challenging transactions. My knowledge and experience set me apart from others.
I pride myself in helping my clients achieve their goals and getting the results that they are seeking. This has been crucial in building my reputation. I am very blessed! Oftentimes, I get referrals from multiple sources. I believe that if you add value and focus on helping others, your business will thrive.
