We recently connected with Jessica Thomas and have shared our conversation below.
Jessica , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
There is a huge misconception about success and what it takes to be successful. Most people understand success in the singular sense of one individual, however success of one does not exist. Success is a collective of people, experiences, ideas that many have contributed to and helped support. With my beauty brand Bombshell Beauty, success is waking up and seeing the beauty lovers of the world find happiness and joy in a brand that aids in solution based beauty. Whether it’s learning a new skill, or finally finding that beauty product that changes your routine, my hope will always be to cater to beauty lovers so that we can all be apart of the success.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Jessica Thomas and I am the founder and CEO of Bombshell Beauty by Jessica Thomas. I am also a freelance professional makeup artist of 5 years working primarily in the runway and film/tv space. I started bombshell beauty around the time I started doing makeup once I saw a lack in the eyelash industry. Originally, I intended to become a certified lash tech and offer extensions to my clients, however after showing up in that space I did not find a love for doing actual lash extensions. Instead I set out to use my teachings of lash design and lash mapping as well as my knowledge thus far as a makeup artist to curate my own styles of lashes that offered a wider range than just a demi wispie. Over the years of me growing as a makeup artist, Bombshell Beauty has grown simultaneously and the brand focus has evolved into not just offering a wider range of lashes but grown in the beauty education space as well. My hope for Bombshell Beauty is to continue to break barriers in educating beauty lovers on products, tools and techniques in a way where we all look towards solution based beauty opposed to hoarding and collecting items that we don’t know how to use or when to use.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
A huge lesson I had to unlearn as the founder and CEO of Bombshell is that you have to wake up everyday ready and willing to show your product to the world! Social media can easily become a daunting space especially if your a person who is obsessed with the likes and views but we have to look past that. If you believe in your brand, messaging and product offering, stand on it. Your collective will come!

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I feel the biggest pivot to date has to be battling through Covid. Bombshell Beauty was a newer business at that point and marketing was one of the sectors that I had to get creative on. In those beginning stages, I heavily relied on in person events and vendor events, however once the pandemic hit I had to get creative. Utilizing social media helped a lot but I also took that time to build out our email list and connect with our collective that way as well.
