Hi Allayah, thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?

Fresh out of college, I had a lot of dreams and ambitions. I leaped and started my online boutique, fueled more by passion than practical know-how. Setting up the LLC was easy it seemed, but reality hit hard when I realized I was in over my head with managing inventory, marketing, and understanding the ins and outs of LLCs. Running my business like this felt far from professional, and the struggle to keep my business bank account afloat was real.

Desperate for funding, I started navigating business credit and structuring my LLC properly. I was very confused at first and realized that my business structure was not in a place to get funding and that left me discouraged. But instead of giving up, I dove into learning and overhauled my strategy. With a better LLC structure and a smarter approach to finances, I finally secured the funding I needed.

This journey taught me invaluable lessons, and I realized there were countless others out there facing similar challenges. That’s why I founded Str8 Biz Consulting – to help fellow entrepreneurs navigate the ups and downs of starting a business with confidence and clarity. It was a risk that I would take again, but I would apply everything that I know now.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?

Funding my business was a journey filled with grit, determination, and a whole lot of hustle. Initially, I dipped into my savings, pulling together nearly $10,000 to kickstart my venture. Juggling a 9-5 job alongside running my business, I hustled day and night, pouring every spare penny into my online boutique, covering everything from inventory and marketing to photoshoots and supplies. When the savings well ran dry, I started funneling money from my paycheck into my business, strategically balancing my monthly expenses while fueling the growth of my venture. As time went on, I recognized the power of building business credit, leveraging it to supplement my income and propel my business to new heights. It’s been a journey of resilience and resourcefulness, one that continues to shape and fuel my entrepreneurial path to this day.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?

Building my reputation within my market was a journey of overcoming fears, embracing vulnerability, and showing up authentically every step of the way. Initially, I hesitated to step into the online arena, plagued by self-doubt and a fear of judgment. It took a pivotal moment—a class led by my mentor, Monica Lee—to ignite the spark of inspiration within me and propel me into action. From that moment on, I made a commitment to myself to show up consistently and authentically for my audience. I started small, posting daily on Instagram, going live, and hosting free classes, despite the inner struggle to maintain consistency. In my first year, I faced challenges, but I persevered, sharing valuable insights and tips on business credit and LLC formation. As I honed in on my niche—helping beginners navigate the intricacies of LLCs and business structure—I found my voice and my audience. Today, I’m proud to be recognized as an expert in my field, but I know that my journey is far from over. I’m committed to continuing to show up authentically, sharing my knowledge, and making a positive impact on those I serve.
