We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Anji Kat. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Anji below.
Anji, appreciate you joining us today. Was there a moment in your career that meaningfully altered your trajectory? If so, we’d love to hear the backstory.
As an industry-trained wellness coach with a Masters degree in Health Promotion, I felt pretty skilled in providing support and coaching to clients who wanted to improve their health and wellbeing. What I found to be interesting pretty early on was that I had this uncanny ability to notice or sense what was really going on underneath their health struggles, and could oftentimes make recommendations that previous coaches failed to offer. My clientele quickly grew over the course because I was having such success with my clients, and I just shrugged that off as just having really good training and education. Little did I know at the time that I had a Spirit team that was helping me!
Given my additional training in yoga and my increasing interest in spiritual and esoteric topics, I began to explore this idea that I might be an Empath and more sensitive to the energy of others. My sister introduced me to oracle cards, and I was very intrigued in learning how to read for myself, but didn’t really think that I had any particular skill or talent in this area. I really didn’t think that I had any intuitive skills, nor did I have any thought that I would ever consider using these skills with my clients.
Years later when I was living in Florida, I was invited by a friend to attend a bi-monthly Psychic Development class. I had no idea what to expect, but my friend assured me it would be fun and I agreed to go. Taught by Rev. Kit Mitchell, well known spiritual medium who trained at the Arthur Findlay College in the UK, we started with a beautiful group meditation, then went straight to spiritual exercises. We practiced giving round-robin readings to each other using a variety of tools, and it was quite entertaining and I was surprised that I was able to give accurate readings! Again, I thought it might be just a fluke, or that I had very basic skills…until we practiced mediumship. I really felt like I had no idea what I was doing, but my assigned partner was so encouraging. I relaxed, closed my eyes, and proceeded to “see” and connect with her father who had passed. I was shocked that I could describe him perfectly, his dress, mannerisms, personality, and deliver messages with ease! This was a profound reading for both of us, and I knew at that moment that my work with clients would never be the same.
I discovered through my continued mentorship and training that I had a number of skills, being an Empath, Clairaudient (I “hear” messages from Spirit), Clairsentient (I have a strong “inner knowing”), and Psychic Medium. This helped me to really understand why I was able to assist my wellness coaching clients in a way that their previous coaches could not and I decided that it was vitally important for me to bring these skills to the forefront of my practice.
Owning and claiming these spiritual gifts was a powerful turning point for me personally and professionally. My personal spiritual growth has helped me through some dark times to achieve success that I could never have imagined. I feel “at home” with myself, and so much of my childhood experiences make sense now in how they have shaped my journey to where I am now. Professionally, I know these skills have helped me and my clients achieve much greater wellbeing in all areas of their lives, and I am so grateful that I can help them find answers when they felt they were completely out of reach.

Anji, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
For those who are new to my work, I have a 25 year background in the health and wellness industry. I have a Masters degree in Health Promotion & Wellness Management as well as numerous certifications including Certified WellCoach, Certified Integrative Nutrition Coach, Certified Yoga Instructor, and Certified Mindfulness Instructor. My corporate work allowed me to be a pioneer in designing and delivering worksite wellness solutions to companies and their employees, as well as provide 1:1 coaching services in clinical, secondary education, non-profit, and corporate landscapes. I am often sought after as a speaker and educator as well as corporate consultant – but my real joy is the work I do with my business Soulful Living with Anji.
Soulful Living with Anji is the marriage between health & wellness and the spiritual realm. I provide 1:1 and Group Coaching, Women’s Moon Circles, and Yoga classes and trainings with the SOUL purpose of helping individuals uplevel their wellbeing to Soulful Living. While I may have clients come to me to work on weight loss, with my intuitive gifts we often discover what is really standing in the way of success, and craft a solution that leads them to a higher vibrational life.
For those that aren’t interested in my coaching packages, I do offer intuitive readings and mediumship that focuses on a much deeper connection to Spirit and spiritual guidance for my clients. You can find me on Facebook or direct on my website at www.soulfullivingwithanji.com.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Now more than ever social media seems to be the key place for marketing and growing your business. I had believed that too, early on, and jumped in to learn all about advertising on social media and specific marketing strategies. However, after I continued to grow frustrated by this process, and the competition online appears to be so fierce, I started to really dislike being on social media…and most of my clients are not there anyway because they are simply too busy! Fortunately, I had a fantastic business coach who helped me realize that it was absolutely not necessary to be on social media AT ALL. This was a revelation and a relief for me! I did not want to spend hours and hours on content creation, ad placements, and checking statistics. For me, the answer was simple: human connection.
I grow my clientele quite simply by hosting in-person and online events such as webinars, moon circles, yoga classes, and even oracle card parties! I discovered that people are craving human connection, and while I do believe that social media can have its place, for my business and the services that I offer, connection is key. For the kind of work that we do together, there needs to be a certain level of trust that is cultivated, and once that is created, people will be very excited about working with you…and they will be happy to tell others about you too!
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
There are many, but the two biggest resources that have impacted my journey are actually people – Denise Duffield-Thomas and her Money Bootcamp and Erica Carrico and her Soul Business Accelerator program. Both of these women were instrumental in helping me grow my business because they were focusing on elements of entrepreneurship that spoke to the kind of work that I do. I learned the importance of focusing on my mindset, as well as getting clear about my specific gifts and services and how to align those with business practices that would grow my business in an organic and natural way – with ease and flow. They gave me permission to find the systems and processes that work for ME, which gave me a lot of freedom, and consequently, helped me relax into my business success.
