We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kyle Davidson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kyle below.
Kyle, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I’ve always had a passion for R&B music from a very young age. The first album I ever owned was Next “Rated Next” and that shaped me into the ‘lover boy’ I am today. Pursuing the creative and wanting to songwrite as well as share music; came from being in relationships and situations where I found myself constantly writing down how I felt. Eventually I said “hey why don’t I turn these feelings into lyrics”.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I got into the curator space (R&B playlists and content) honestly by just wanting to help put people onto amazing music. I got tired of hearing “R&B is dead” when there are hundreds of incredible new(er) artists that are making the music we love. Great music is out there, it’s just harder to find because it isn’t on the radio nowadays; it’s in playlists on streaming apps. What I do is film content (artist showcases or interview style showcases) to put people onto those amazing artists that may not have a huge fanbase just yet. The main thing I want people to know about me is that I’m purely just a lover of music and my work is to contribute to it in anyway that I can, whether it’s through songwriting or helping to shine a spotlight onto other artists.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The amazing people that I have met and the connections that I’ve made and continue to make are definitely the most rewarding part of this journey. I have met so many genuine and kind people who also share the same passion that I have for R&B music. I just hope that I’ll continue to meet so many great people as this journey moves forward.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
To be honest I feel like I’m still building my audience. My following isn’t huge by any means but it’s growing slowly but surely. At the end of the day I try to focus on my overall goal which is to get more eyes on the artists and to get people to listen to their music. Even if I only influence 1 new person, that’s a brand new fan to add into the artist’s fanbase.
