Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Judy Maxine. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Judy, appreciate you joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
As a child, I was in a very bad accident that left me having stitches on my face and loosing half of one eyebrow. Growing up, this was very difficult to conceal. After having my brows tattooed for the first time, I was inspired to learn PMU!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Before becoming a Cosmetic Tattoo Artist, I joined the beauty and esthetics industry back in 2011. In 2014, I collaborated with LVMH for 5+ years which grew my love for cosmetic artistry. From there, I began specializing in brow shaping and professional event makeup. I loved creating looks for weddings and fashion events, including New York Fashion Week. In 2018, I set out with a plan and joined the PMU industry to make things a little bit more permanent. 🤍 Several years later, I now carry 2 licenses and 10+ certifications in cosmetic and medical tattooing procedures.
I specialize in services such as nanoblading and nanoshading for brows, lip blush tattooing, freckles, scar camouflage, correctional work, and gender affirming tattoos.
For breast cancer survivors, I offer 3D areola restoration complimentary to help with their healing journey.
I have a studio located inside of Undertone Salon & Co. in Downtown Augusta, GA.
I also travel to Raleigh, NC partnering with SHADE Permanent Makeup Studio in their beautiful and cozy oasis.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding experience for me as a cosmetic tattoo artist would have to be handing my client the mirror after their service and seeing their immediate reaction. Watching their confidence grow and feeling their happiness.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
When I first told my family that I would be leaving my corporate job to pursue my love for permanent makeup and cosmetic tattooing, I was immediately told NO. I knew in my soul that if I was passionate about something, I could become great at it. No matter what it could be. Despite being told how much of a risk this could be, I decided to travel and seek the best training. I’ve now been in this industry for over 6 years and cannot imagine my life without it! I love to be apart of my client’s journey into feeling confident with themselves.
