We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Diana Long. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Diana below.
Diana, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today One of the most important things we can do as business owners is ensure that our customers feel appreciated. What’s something you’ve done or seen a business owner do to help a customer feel valued?
I am a big believer in appreciation especially with my clients. When I first partner with a private client I send them a hardcover journal in the mail so that they can capture their notes, goals, and inspiration from our sessions. As I get to know them during our coaching, I’ll send cards of congratulations, support, or encouragement depending on what is transpiring for them. If there is a big event, I might send flowers or a special gift. My clients thrive with this level of attention and care. With my in-person events, I make sure that every detail is attended to: the beauty of the venue to flowers on the tables, to well-designed handouts to delicious snacks, and inspiring music playing in the background. I take every opportunity that I can to ensure that my clients feel valued and honored in their coaching journey with me.

Diana, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I have long been fascinated with psychology and love to support people to create positive breakthroughs in their lives. In the early days of my career, I worked in the field of professional counseling. The next step in my journey was the discovery of life and leadership coaching. It was the perfect way for me to blend my counseling skills with the proactive approach of coaching. From here, I have created many different offerings including, private coaching, mastermind coaching groups, and live and online events. My client’s dreams come true including finding their soulmate, breaking 6 and 7 figures in their businesses, to birthing their creative dreams of art, dance, and writing. For my entire professional career, I have continued to study and train with leaders in the field of neuroscience, peak performance, and success technology to bring these cutting-edge techniques to my clients. I am a Master Certified Coach, which is a credential held by the top four percent of coaches globally. What sets me apart from others is my commitment to sharing evidence-based practices and my natural intuitive abilities with my clients. Together this sets the stage for my clients to bloom and flourish, and achieve their goals and beyond.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
As an entrepreneur, resilience is key! I have had many scenarios that I had to draw upon my inner strength and carry on. One of those times was a difficult one for our family when my dear parents passed away within a year of each other. As the owner of my business, there wasn’t someone to take over and lead the classes and mastermind coaching calls. I was “it”. I had to dig deep and pour myself into my work. It was a blessing as it allowed me to channel my energies into transformational work with my students and clients.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
As a visionary, it’s easy for me to produce new and exciting ideas and I have never had a shortage of options for what I could offer. In the early days of my coaching and event business, I worried that my first big event would not be a success. I would start out strong and execute my vision, but in the earliest days of marketing, sales did not generate very quickly. This put me into an absolute panic, and I came close to canceling the event. I learned so much from my first event. I learned that people often wait until the last minute to purchase tickets. I learned to believe and trust in myself and my ideas. I learned that one participant could end up bringing several people with them. I learned that partnering with sponsors for my events was a brilliant way to build community. I learned to use early bird pricing to entice more sign-ups earlier in the marketing cycle. I learned how important it is to keep your mindset positive. I learned to lean into support. That first event was a success. It was memorable for many reasons and the great ending to this story was that it sold out! I was so close to cancelling it! Each time I offer a new event, I remember that first one and it helps anchor a positive mindset and rely on tried and true strategies.
