We were lucky to catch up with D0le recently and have shared our conversation below.
D0le, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
My most meaningful project is the one I will drop this year along with my producer and long-time friend yearnthedayaway (YTDA for short). The idea for the project itself came out of a lack of artistic vision in the current generation of mainstream Hip-Hop. With this project me and yearnthedayaway are hoping to create a whole new subgenre of Hip-Hop called “Fever Rap”. Fever Rap can be defined by its static-like bass-dominant sound design as well as repetitive and catchy flows and lyrics to replicate what’s going on in one’s head while on a fever (hence the name Fever Rap). As far as we know, no one has done something like this before, therefore we are excited to present our artistic vision to the world. Our debut album of Fever Rap will be called “FEVER” and will have 12 songs due to both me and YTDA being born in the 12th month of the year. The reason why this is my most meaningful project is that with this project I can finally start reaching my goal in music: bringing something new to the table that will be loved by people and will inspire other artists to take music as an art form instead of business.
Huge thanks to my friend YTDA, couldn’t have done it without him.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Let me introduce myself. I’m D0le, a (currently) 20-year-old music artist from Lithuania. My mission is to bring some fresh air into the industry. With sounds inspired by Lil Uzi Vert, Playboi Carti, Pi’erre Bourne, and even SEBii and Lil Darkie, mixed with some Eastern European spice, my goal is to deliver some unheard sounds and unfelt vibes. Apart from making music, I’m also the founder of an underground collective “Aurum. Incense. Myrrh.”.
I loved music my whole life. Music was always something to hype me up and keep me going. Up to about 12 years old my favorite music genre was dubstep due to Skrillex. Later on in life, my taste in music took a course toward Hip-Hop due to my all-time favorite game GTA: San Andreas. Who could have known that this would change my life forever? Even though I liked Hip-Hop, I never considered that I could be a rapper up until 2018 when I started listening to Drake. That’s when I went on a writing spree and then, 3 years later, my first drop called “The Beginning” in November of 2021.
In 2023 I founded an underground Hip-Hop collective Aurum. Incense. Myrrh. (A.I.M. for short). The main premise of this collective is to move against satanism in modern Hip-Hop. Instead of rocking an all-black style and rapping about hedonistic and blasphemous things we are wearing all-white (with every member also having one secondary color assigned for them to use in their outfits) and rapping about spiritual wellbeing.
2024 however is when I’m planning to shine the brightest yet due to my and yearnthedayaway’s upcoming album which will present a whole new subgenre of Hip-Hop to rap enjoyers.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Well, back when I first started making music I had none, and I mean NONE equipment that is essential to making quality music. My first ever song was recorded on a phone in a car. Naturally, there were a lot of people who didn’t like the way I sounded and told me to stop making music altogether. I remember this one guy from my school, he was also a rapper. One day we were talking about music and he said “You can’t talk about music when you’re making it on your phone in a car”. Another thing that used to hold me down was my old laptop. It would barely run Audacity, not to even mention any more sophisticated DAWs. Therefore I was unable to mix my songs and had to depend on audio engineers online to do that for me. However, due to their lack of knowledge of what I was intending to do, my music didn’t turn out to be the way I wanted. I had a lot of chances to stop what I was doing and to find something better to do but I didn’t because I believed in myself and my music. Now I have both a microphone and a decent PC and can proudly say that my music has stepped up in level. I’m happy that I didn’t make that stupid decision of quitting back in the day.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
All my life I wanted to do something big, something that would make the world at least a tiny bit better but had no idea how to do it. When I first started making music I didn’t have a particular goal – I was just making it to express myself. As I got older, however, I started thinking more and more about life and how important it is to do something that would benefit our society as a whole. But what could a music artist do? Well, a lot as it turns out. Music has always been a part of the everyday life of homo-sapiens as a species. Music was and to this day is something to cheer people up or to help them survive hard times. So, as a music artist, my goal is to make the best music I could ever make and to help people get through tough stages of their lives as well as create something new that would be admired by many generations to come. That’s what I hope to accomplish with Fever Rap.
