We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Torey Willis . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Torey below.
Hi Torey, thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
We’re Molly and Lily, and we are the owners and creators of Mol and Lil. We created our company because we have a passion for giving back and making a difference to children in need – basically, Kids helping other Kids!
Our family has always been passionate about donating our time and providing clothing, toys, food, books, and much more to many charities we’ve supported, but we wanted to do more than that. What if two kids could start a company from scratch, fulfill a passion (being creative and making fun jewelry), and help children who are in less fortunate positions than us? That’s the idea behind Mol and Lil!
During COVID, we spent many months with our Mum, looking at ways we could give back. While we were taking a family vacation in Mexico and feeling like we needed to help more kids, we had an idea to start making gifts for the children in a local orphanage. These gifts included bracelets, necklaces, and dreamcatchers. The kids LOVED them – and this is when Mol & Lil was officially born.
Upon arriving back from vacation, we immediately started to make lots more of our fun, collectible bracelets, and at the same time, search for a charity that was close to our hearts and needed our support. We were looking for one where less fortunate kids could be helped by other kids!
That’s where Amanda Hope Rainbow Angels come in. Amanda Hope helps children (warriors) and their families who are dealing with the devastating impacts of childhood cancer. Today, Mol & Lil supports Amanda Hope with a percentage of net profit proceeds, while also assisting in fundraising activities and any volunteering that can help and comfort the kids they support.
So, here we are fulfilling a dream, making one bracelet at a time to help kids who need our help.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
“I (Molly) love to design Molly’s Mood Beads, and I like creating unique bracelets that can mix, match, and stack!”
“I (Lily) love to design bracelets with wild, colorful patterns, with matching stones and crystals!”
Each one of our bracelets has a unique story, just like the warriors we support!
We hope you enjoy our fun and colorful jewelry while supporting a cause that means so much to us.
We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
During Covid Mol & Lil were making bracelets from our home in Mexico. Outside of working with the orphanage we wanted to start supporting the children at Los Cabos Children’s Foundation. Almarte Boutique at the Waldorf Cabo San Lucas offered to sell our bracelets in their fabulous boutique and it took off from there! That really opened our eyes to growing Mol&Lil in AZ and supporting Amanda Hope Rainbow Angels.
Recent milestone for us has been beyond exciting – Mol&Lil were picked as the main charity for the upcoming Broadway Show – Shrek The Musical. We designed the bracelets for the show and the audience which has been such a huge success!
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Mol&Lil really took off in AZ when we started hosting “My Company Cares” events for Amanda Hope Rainbow Angels. Our latest event we had approximately 95 moms/kids in our home putting together the most incredible gifts for the warriors at Amanda Hope. We put together No More Chemo Party Boxes, Mindfulness Kits, Comfort Packs, Superhero Capes, Craft Kits, Jewelry Kits and Birthday Cards. Hosting these events brings new faces every time and its amazing how everyone comes together and in the end bracelet purchases go to support to the children as well!
