Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ramon Armenta. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Ramon thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?
I am building a legacy of perseverance. Anything worth anything is worth persevering for. When I am gone, I hope my wife, my children, my friends, and my coworkers will say I never gave up. I think to preserver is to win. As long as I get up and try again, I win.

Ramon, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
To be honest, I did not know that this career field existed. It was not until the end of my freshman year at the University of Arizona that I discovered Visual Communications and Graphic Design. Basically, I could not take any more classes until I declared a major. I had taken all the general education courses and had to choose a path. So, I set off with my backpack and visited several colleges that I thought might fit my interests and strengths. I visited the Media Arts Department, the Interdisciplinary College, and finally the School of Art. It was the School of Art that really caught my attention. Browsing the list of degrees I could achieve, my eye settled on Visual Communications. And that was that. I enrolled and began my study of Color Theory, Art History, Illustration, Typography, Sculpture, and all sorts of forms of Branding. Looking back, I think it was all meant to be. I was put in the right place at the right time.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I create because It makes me feel alive. Usually, people create for a living…However, I live to create. I think this is what sets me apart.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I lived through the Great Recession. I had just purchased a home and embarked on journey of Adulthood with all it’s responsibilities when the worst of the recession hit. That experience definitely made me question whether this was the field I should be in. My confidence was challenged, but…I persevered. And here I am today. Decades later. Still doing what I love.
