We recently connected with Barbara Pask and have shared our conversation below.
Barbara, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
I think deciding to be an artist has been one of the most rewarding things in my life however also one of the hardest. I always say being an artist is very humbling, it’s one of those things that you never quite master and for myself that is part of what draws me to it. I have painted pretty much full time for about the last nineteen years, lessons and workshops all over the country.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a full time artist. I specialize in pet and home portraits. I love what I do, a lot of my commissions are Christmas gifts and I love knowing I am a part of making their holiday special. I do a few shows each year and I also have a YouTube channel where I paint in real time. I also paint with a couple of groups and I paint outside a lot weather permitting. I sell from my website at BarbaraPask.com and you can find me on Facebook and Instagram.

Can you share your view on NFTs? (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
I had no interest in NFTS, why would you pay more for an image than an original piece of art. If it isn’t a scam I feel it will fade away in time. Maybe I’m old school but I sell my original paintings at an affordable price and I collect a lot of original art also.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
I paint because my first goal is to get better and better but connecting with people is the most rewarding part of it. Connecting with other artists that share your interest is so good and connecting with a collector is just the best. It’s the reward for your hard work, just nothing better than when someone wants to live with your art.
