We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Justin Bisnauth a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Justin, appreciate you joining us today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
I still have a lot to learn but in this process of having a ministry there has been a lot of mistakes, but I don’t regret any of them. When I decided to start Creatives 4 Christ I didn’t know that I would have to learn marketing, editing videos, mixing and mastering music, and even a-lot of aspects of leadership. You don’t always realize all the responsibilities that are included with a vision God has given you and it could be discouraging at times. I’ve learned that while walking out a vision the biggest thing that happens is you build character. A lot of times the skills you learn won’t be transferable into other areas of life , but the character building trials that you persevere through you can take in everything you do. I am thankful for the mistakes I’ve made and for the knowledge I have gained and know that it is all for Gods bigger plan. Whether it is with Creatives 4 Christ or any other road that God decides to lead me to I know I have grown and won’t ever start at the same ground zero that I started at before.
Justin, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Justin Bisnauth aka Jbiz. I am an artist and songwriter and also started my own ministry called Creative 4 Christ Ministries. Creatives for Christ started when God showed me that there is a lot of gifts and talents in the congregation of a church that typically doesn’t get shown on a Sunday. Some people feel like there is no space for them to use their gifts in the church so I started a platform where we can get together and create, and put on shows for those same people to show what God has given them. We have people who rap, sing , spoken word, draw, paint and more. It just gives Christian creatives a place to grow in their craft and spread the gospel through their art.
The most important thing about Creatives for Christ is the walk of the artists and we build a community where we can learn and grow together as disciples and use what we are given ( our gifts) to spread the gospel
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My goal is to share the Gospel and goodness of God through music and to encourage and motivate people to do the same. I believe that we are given gifts and talents to ultimately worship God and spread the message of Jesus Christ. As followers of Christ we are to be the light in the world and my mission is to spread that light through music and other creative ways
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
I think the best way to support artists and creatives today is to share their art with others you think it would inspire. God has uniquely designed us all and nobody has the same style and creativity in what they do and that is valuable. I think that is the best way keep the creative ecosystem thriving. A lot of people quit using their God given gift if they feel like it is not effective and there are a lot of very talented people who have taken their gifts to the grace that the world needs.
