We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Isabel Reyes. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Isabel below.
Alright, Isabel thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Earning a full time living from one’s creative career can be incredibly difficult. Have you been able to do so and if so, can you share some of the key parts of your journey and any important advice or lessons that might help creatives who haven’t been able to yet?
I;ve been working as a full time creative for most of my life. From casting and producing network TV shows since my early 20s to entertainment directing, curating events and DJing all over Los Angeles with some of the best to do it, i’ve been able to impact my community through the magic of music.i continue to thrive thanks to an incredible support system.

Isabel , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m Isabel, but you can call me LABellatini—originally pronounced L.A. Bellatini, but Labellatini works just fine, and I actually like it! Hollywood has been my playground since I was 20, where I’ve carved out a career as a casting director and producer. These days, I’m dedicating my time to building community, hosting and curating events, and using my DJ skills to uplift and propel the collective forward. I’ve been rocking the professional DJ and entertainment director role for a solid 6 years now, I recently cast Netflix hit show La Firma and recently lead the DJ pilot program for LA County Parks and rec, funded by the Department of economic opportunity, i was able to teach high school kids how to DJ as part of their work training. The program was recently funded over 36 parks and im excited about that.
What sets me apart? It’s my infectious energy. I’m a bundle of positivity and outgoing vibes. Thanks to my hardworking parents, I’ve been able to craft the life I envisioned, and I’m truly grateful for that. I’m on a mission to empower those around me, and you can count on me to be consistently reliable.
One thing I take pride in is my adaptability. When things veer off course, I’m not afraid to pivot. I’m an open and honest individual who values vulnerability. Maintaining high standards and integrity is non-negotiable for me. I firmly believe in the strength of the collective, dedicating a significant portion of my energy to being a supportive force.

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
The most effective way for society to truly support artists and creatives is by actively participating in local events and investing in local products. While enjoying big-name acts like Beyonce and Bad Bunny is fantastic, let’s also extend our support to artists making waves in our own communities. Backing venues that offer entertainment for their communities is crucial, but it comes with a price. Often, DJs, bands, and dancers find themselves working for less than minimum wage.
I hope those who don’t identify as artists can recognize that being an artist isn’t merely a childhood fantasy—it’s a way of life. For me, creation is a necessity. Connecting with others through art is a must, and dancing and singing are inherent to my being. The world becomes more beautiful because of it. I can’t fathom a reality where I’m not constantly brainstorming ways to enhance the world around me. To me, art is everything.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Being able to pour into myself and stretch out my creative muscle in everything i touch is incredibly fulfilling. I get messages from a lot of people who are moved by my silly posts on IG or my dancing at the events. Having a positive attitude actually takes less energy than being upset… i have a lot to do so investing in my happiness is imperative to my success.
