We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Emily Rasowsky. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Emily below.
Hi Emily, thanks for joining us today. Parents play a huge role in our development as youngsters and sometimes that impact follows us into adulthood and into our lives and careers. Looking back, what’s something you think you parents did right?
My answer to this one may actually be a bit unorthodox.
I think this question is curious because it implies that somehow our parents can do things that are “wrong”. Now, before I loose you down the rabbit hole of “what ifs…” let me explain my story.
When I was 7 my father passed away and my mom unexpectedly was left raising two girls and a whole household by herself… while attempting to navigate her own grief. His death was sudden and we were anything but prepared.
She did her absolute best but truth be told, we needed more support than really any grieving parent could possibly offer.
My sister and I became the worst of enemies and well, things were pretty weird and painful for a while.
To some death and grief may sound like the worst thing a parent could possibly do for their child. For me, it was hands down the most useful thing I’ve ever experienced.
Now, don’t get me wrong…. this was incredibly hard and not exactly something I wish upon others… but for me I am 1000% certain these moments are why I am so determined to LIVE fully and express, create and help others with their own stuff.
If it wasn’t for this moment I am SURE I wouldn’t have the same level of grit, confidence, and compassion. These moments change you and I believe I perfectly designed it to help me be who I was always destined to be.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hi there, I am an intuitive artist, author, and healer. After a 13 year healing journey I began to use my voice to help people on their path of self love. I’m now a vocalist and musical channel, author of the book “Hungry: 6 Steps to Heal our Need for More” (releasing this year), and co-founder of Liber8, a tech company supporting the psyscho-somatic healing of cancer patients.
I work with 1:1 clients and groups of people (in workshop format) to help the clear the self harming thoughts, actions, and feelings that hold us back from setting boundaries, speaking our truth, living our purpose, and finding harmony in our lives. In my 1:1 sessions I take clients through a 6 step program to support their full expression and purpose. In my group workshops I guide attendees through expression practices & a breathwork session, and channel music on the spot to support their healing.
I’ve been supporting people on their journey of self-healing for over a decade and my work weaves together various energetic, somatic, and psycho-social modalities from astrology and breathwork to musical channeling, shamanic studies and mediumship.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I had to unlearn that doubt was a bad thing.
I think in the creative process, it’s easy to get hung up on our doubts or fears.
For so long, I would let it stop me entirely. I literally stopped creating music for 15 years because my fear and doubt was so strong.
Then I was working with a producer one day who saw how I struggled through my second guessing and he shared with me something that really stuck.
He said: you get to USE this doubt as part of the creative process. You can use it to make your art better.
It made so much sense to me! Doubt is like a slingshot fully taut for expression. If you can aim it in the right location and really release into it, you can go so much father than you ever could before.
So now, every time I face doubt I use it to look deeper at my work, push past my edges and ultimately trust in the joy of creation.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Yes! Absolutely. My whole focus is on the concept of liberation and freedom.
My whole purpose with expressing my work in writing and song and in healing arts is to help others find their own voice…
All my life I wanted to sing but then at age 14 I stopped completely because of a really challenging experience I had. I went the COMPLETE opposite direction – running from my passions..
If you had asked me to sing I would have probably ran out of the room – literally. I was terrified of expressing myself and judged everyone else who did around me… mostly as a defense mechanism.
I pushed all of my desire down and decided to work in business and startups and product development… all interesting but nowhere near what I dreamed up for myself. My last corporate role I was working on a startup team at Amazon building a new version of healthcare. I had ran to the top of the corporate mountain and was left totally empty inside.
After 13 years of healing work I finally started to sing again…. and it was beyond liberating.
That journey of being who you are and taking those steps from zero to full on being seen is something I wish for everyone.
Living a life of ‘what ifs’ is not really living…
So if you have something building in you, a part of your heart you’ve abandoned… I got you. And just know, liberation is possible.
