Alright, Carlos & Jose thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Innovation comes in all shapes, sizes and across all industries, so we’d love to hear about something you’ve done that you feel was particularly innovative.
From being executives in the corporate world to becoming MR. COOL Party Events is an innovation in itself. Just two dudes, happy to serve our community of San Antonio and surrounding areas. We started our business in 2020 through the pandemic doing balloon arrangements in a 560 sq. ft studio to now doing corporate events for multi-million dollar companies like Amazon, Xsellence Realty & more! We are thankful for this opportunity, and everyone who believed in us.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
We believe that an important aspect of our business is the passion for creativity which stems from Jose’s teenage years, where he honed his skills crafting balloon decorations for family and friends’ parties and events. Prior to our business venture, Jose worked as a makeup artist and corporate executive in the makeup industry but the desire to create and run his own business was strong. Together, we combine our talents using Jose’s artistic skills and Carlos’ business knowledge to build our small business. Carlos has a bachelor’s degree in business economics with background in accounting/finance. As the artist/entrepreneur, it’s important to give your 110% to customers throughout the booking experience by providing visuals & examples of the art we can create based on inspirations from the client. Thus, we believe in bringing customer’s vision to life – as our main purpose is to create a memorable event to every client. We think that what set us apart from other businesses is the fact that we answer in a timely manner, and work with every clientele from personal to corporate events, while maintaining high standards. We’ve been entrusted to work for companies like Amazon, James Avery, Methodist healthcare ministers, Don strange, Wellmed, and Xsellence realty.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Our best way to gain new clients has been by having a social media presence. We appreciate our followers, people who share our posts, write us reviews on google and yelp, etc. Also, a lot of our business are based on customers referrals, and word to mouth.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
A time when we had to pivot or shift focus and take some risks both personally and professionally was when we first started Mr cool. It was during pandemic when nothing was certain but the need for celebrating and making people happy was in high demand. After much thought and consideration, Jose quit his job as a corporate executive and Carlos managed both his job and help start up Mr Cool. It was up to both of us to stay making steady income and bring our business off the ground while staying safe. We really had to trust in our product, skill and each other to make this happen. It was a risk well worth it.
