We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful CRTFD. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with CRTFD below.
CRTFD, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
An artistic career dawned on me during my teenage years. I didn’t necessarily grow up as a musical prodigy, but being from a culturally diverse area in Southern California I was exposed to a plethora of artistic expression, from street art to live music performances. It was during this time that I attended a transformative electronic music event that would change my personal trajectory from that point on. After experiencing the collective energy, pulsating beats and vibrant visuals of an electronic music show a seed had been planted in me. This seed was one of a dream to create music that would evoke the emotions and connect people on the same level I had experience that first night years ago. From that moment finding my way in music’s not just a choice but a calling.
CRTFD, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
For anyone who is discovering me for the first time, I go by CRTFD, pronounced (sur · tuh · fide).
I appreciate you for taking the time to read about my story up to this point. I’m a House Music Producer but love all types of dance music. I’ve been making music since my late teens and am so proud about the music I’ve been putting out recently including my track “Piña Colado” with my boys THE HOTEL LOBBY.
I’m even more pumped about the songs I have ready to come out in 2024. I’ve spent the past year really cultivating a CRTFD sound that has been getting a lot of great feedback at my shows.
Speaking of shows you can always find me playing my tracks in clubs around Los Angeles and Orange County so follow me to make sure you are up to date with all my latest tour stops.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Taking the time to make sure all your online profiles tell the story of your brand is so important and would definitely be the first step to garnering a following online and should be considered the ground floor.
After I aligned all my social profiles with my brand identity it was time for promotion. I find the best way to get real followers that will engage with your content is to meet people out in the real world. I am constantly meeting people in restaurants, airports, nightclubs and those people I meet in real life are always the ones who show the most support. Once people have met the human attached to the account they are fed connected to you and are way more likely to stick around. Of course not everyone is gonna like you or your brand but these are merely the trials of being a creative.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The ultimate reward for me is getting to play the music I make in front of crowds. There is no feeling quite like this and watching people come together, dance and have fun is what makes all the hours of hard work really worth it.
