We were lucky to catch up with Carrie Kaster recently and have shared our conversation below.
Carrie, appreciate you joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I knew I wanted to be an actor or in that creative field when I was in two plays during my childhood. I just knew it was for me at that time right away.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
A little about me…I knew I wanted to act/model from a young age, I pursued it when I was in High school, but it did not take off for me so I did not revisit it until I was in my mid-thirties. I found representation and then I began to book commercial type work. What sets me apart from others is that I have worked in public safety for about 15 years. Because of this, I have been able to book commercial roles where I play a police officer, because I already know how to be one.
Recently, I have started a new online business. I am anticipating retiring in about a year from public safety and I wanted to create a new stream of income. With my new business, I sell a health and wellness product and also teach people how to create and run an online business with no experience. What is great about this is I get to combine my skills of creativity, teaching, leadership and my background in physical fitness (I was a personal trainer previously) all into one.
What I am most proud of is my resiliency, my communication skills, and my adaptability.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I recently had to switch job positions at work. At first I was very resistant to it, but I realized that I needed to continue to build on my leadership skills as well as my mindset. This was a challenge, but so far I feel I have continued to grow.
In addition to this, I started my new online business. With it came a supportive community that is helping me to retrain my state of mind. This has been a huge pivot for me. I have been learning how to have a entrepreneurial and abundant mindset instead of a victim state of mind.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I would say my mission is to give back to the community as a whole through creative means. Whether that is with my new business or through acting/modeling, as long as I am feeling joy then I feel I will be providing love and contributing which in turn makes me feel whole as well.
