We were lucky to catch up with Araiz Cervantes recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Araiz, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
The 2 women who raised me, my mother and my nana made me to be an independent strong woman. There was no limits to my dreams, they encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone and always go for more. I am who I am because of them, if there’s one thing I can take & apply to my life now is that my mother became a mom at 17 years old and there was not a day she quit on me since that moment. I am resilient and will never stop working hard to make my dreams reality.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
My name is Araiz Cervantes, I am 25 years old and I am a beauty, mental health, self love enthusiast. I own a beauty studio in San Diego. For the past 3 years I’ve dedicated myself to proving more than a service to our clients, we provide a relationship, an experience, a community.
I began my journey in the garage of my home, a small space that soon gave me the clarity I so badly craved at the time. I took clients from 9am to 8pm saving every single dollar I made to eventually pay for my schooling and obtain a studio .
My first location was a moment I will never forget, I remember thinking “ there’s no way I did this” and I remember having so much doubt that it would work. However the next 6 months changed my life forever. I had so much clientele, I created a place where the energy was magnetic & everyone wanted to get in my books.
I quickly outgrew the space and I acquired an 1500 square foot location with 4 team members.
A dream come true. But dreams come with work, and I worked 24/7 to make sure things happened.
I truly believe what sets us apart from the rest is our ability to form relationships and our sense of humanity and community. We want you to feel a part of something bigger, we let you be you. When you come into our studio, there’s no judgement, no apologizing, no down talk about yourself or your body, we see everyone for the beauty within, and we thrive on making sure you see YOUR own beauty. We are your safe space.
We specialize in body therapy such as lymphatic massages & wood therapy. We offer lash extensions, spray tans, brow threading, teeth whitening & others. We also offer training, and seminars for women who want to take on a new career or hobby.
Today I am most proud of my impact in the beauty community, I’m also most proud of the team I’ve created. A team that works hard and has my back. Our hopes for the future are to inspire young women to take a chance. And dream big. When you work hard everything is possible!
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
My most effective strategy in growing a clientele is being present. And I don’t just mean physically but mentally present. You’ve got to make sure your clients feel like they matter to you. As hard as it may be when you start hitting hundreds and hundreds of clients.
You need to elevate your social skills, capability . Be able to communicate effectively and remember every single person that walks through that door.
A client wants to feel valued, special, you have to earn their business. Otherwise there’s 10 other beauty studios on google maps. They’ll search the experience elsewhere.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I think what’s helped me build a reputation is my honesty, and my willingness to help. I’ve always been an open book; I’ve shared my journey and my victories just like I’ve shared my hardships, struggle.
Being an entrepreneur is a roller coaster and I’ve been very open about everything and I think people respect that about me .
