Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kylie and Maggie Daniel N/A. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kylie and Maggie Daniel, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s jump right into how you came up with the idea?
Like most important milestones in life, I can remember exactly where I was when I had the epiphany to get back into Video Production. Maggie had joined a Network Marketing company and we had traveled to San Francisco for a leadership training event. I don’t recall who was speaking on the stage that day or even what they said but I definitely remember how they made me feel. The way I felt was that it was time for me stop coasting through life. I was unfulfilled in my job at the time and I had no creative outlets. Maggie had been doing really well with her new business and I was also trying to figure out how I could step up and help her. These two concepts were floating around in my head when I noticed another spouse capturing video content to help with his wife’s social media. That’s when it hit me. In college I had taken film classes and my first full time job was as a videographer at a local news station. I even had filmed some weddings back then and was told often that I had a good eye and a gift for video. But when a stable job with better pay and flexibility became available I put this career to the side. It had been almost 10 years since I had filmed anything. But there, in that conference hall in San Francisco it became clear. This was how I could help Maggie with her network marketing business. What I didn’t know was that by the end of that summer I would have other leaders within that company hiring me to work with them creating videos. Within a year I stepped down from my desk job and formed my own company, Half Moon Digital.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Half Moon Digital is a digital media production company with an expertise in video. We have experience in all types video production and filming services. Commercials, events, weddings, music videos, motion graphics, and documentaries to name a few. We also have experience managing and producing content for different platforms like YouTube and Podcasts. Last year we launched a new platform offering VHS tape digitizing. And finally this year, (with bringing Maggie on as an asset to the company) we are now providing web design and graphic design services. What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For me it’s all about exceeding my client’s expectations. Sharing the final draft of a project and hearing the reactions is what fuels me to excel in my work. I’m always thinking about the viewers emotions and experience. The ability to take a product or idea and present it in a way that elevates it to it’s highest potential; that is the most rewarding thing.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
The great thing about being in the creative field is that oftentimes the quality of your work speaks for itself. I hope that we have built a reputation of providing high quality products with impeccable attention to detail. But on top of that what matters even more is treating people with respect. I don’t see my clients as customers, rather we are collaborators, working together toward a common goal.
