We recently connected with Julie Crone and have shared our conversation below.
Julie, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
When I was six, I took my first oil painting class, and fell in love with the creative process. In time, I furthered my art education and obtained a BFA. When I graduated, I fell naturally into Interior Design. Eventually, I followed my heart and focused on my art full time. I am thankful for having my design background. I find myself incorporating palettes and potential compositions envisioning my work in residential or commercial spaces. I feel most fulfilled when collectors connect with my artwork. I always love getting photos from collectors, showing me my artwork in their space!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m proud to be a Southern California native, drawing inspiration from nature and the environment around me. Every one of my collections has a story, and is a celebration of life and a tribute to the loved ones who have shaped my journey.
In my creative process, I explore the complexities of memory and the shared human experience through multimedia techniques. I integrate unconventional materials such as rope and fabric to add texture and depth to some pieces. My palettes are carefully curated with vibrant hues that often evoke a deep emotional response from the viewer.

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Ideally, the best support would stem from a community near and far that supports original art, rather than the mass produced prints and giclees. I have never made reproductions of my work as I value originality above all else. I hope collectors purchase one of a kind art for themselves and their clients.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Events near and dear to my heart are always an inspiration. One of my latest collections was “Lahaina Love”. When the beloved city of Lahaina, Maui, burnt down last year, I was compelled to create a series of work. A city I love and have cherished for decades. I aimed to honor the city. I was honored to offer to donate part of the proceeds from this collection to a local Maui charity.
