We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Montravon Latise. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Montravon below.
Hi Montravon, thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
My mission with The Accountability Table program is provide an environment for women in business to get the support they need in achieving their goals through accountability, encouragement, and also being a safe space to explore challenges and successes. Having a support system is rewarding. While seated at The Table, I’ve noticed how each person finds it less challenging to empower themselves to take ownership of their lives, excel in their respective business, set meaningful goals, and take the actions required to achieve them. The overall mission is to be the outlet where women feel comfortable enough to show up and ultimately unlock their full potential. I want them to be successful and to create the life they desire.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I started with a hair and wig company. I have alopecia and my wig business primarily catered to those with alopecia. During COVID, I did really well in business and also took the time to strengthen my knowledge and understanding of business processes. I provided wig design classes using a sewing machine and many of my students would reach back out to discuss the business side after feeling comfortable with the design side. I noticed I was a resource where they felt comfortable discussing business as well. The idea popped in my head. I met with a friend for dinner and told her I wanted to start an accountability group to help women in business or aspiring to be a business owner. The Accountability Table was birthed. I’m most proud of the response from those who have had a chance to be seated at The Table. I love how they have grown both individually and in business professionally. The atmosphere is genuine and loving and that is what truly sets The Accountability Table apart from other groups. We’re really seated hand in hand rooting for each other to win and building a network of determined business women.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I have built my audience by genuinely being me. I don’t really have a lot of fluff and frill with me. I’m me even on the days when I feel I fall short and people see that. I have stopped and started again. Had to start over and rebuild myself and all the time I have always shown up as me in my most authentic state. I truly want what’s best for people and I’m okay with rooting for others to win and patiently waiting until it is my turn. That characteristic of me is one of the many reasons I’m so blessed. People know that about me and I think it pulls them closer to not only me as a person but my brand.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Resilience for me has been these last six months. I have lost three people that I loved dearly: my brother, my cousin and most recently my uncle. I’m big on family and my family is close knit. My cousins have always been like my siblings and my uncles have always stepped in to fill the gaps where my father wasn’t present in my life. Trying to handle grief for one person is rough, but back to back and still trying to show up for yourself in business and the other things you have going on in life is a lot. It can really take a toll on you both mentally and emotionally. The request for this interview came while grieving and I remember planning to get it done and then in the midst losing another loved one. Resilience is learning to do what is best for you in your time of need for your sanity all the while continuing to push forward. I’m still here. Still going. Still growing and doing it all while still grieving on the occasions where grief creeps in. #resilence
