We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Lisa Happ a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Lisa , thanks for joining us today. Was there a defining moment in your professional career? A moment that changed the trajectory of your career?
Hello
I am Certified Divorce Coach, Narcissistic Abuse Coach, and Brainspotting Therapist. With a deep understanding of the complexities of divorce, narcissistic abuse, I provide compassionate support and guidance to help my clients reclaim their lives and thrive after divorce and narcissistic abuse.
I began my career in the Mental Health field and then transitioned to opening and owing a very successful pilates and wellness studio. During my time of owning this studio I went through a divorce. Once I did so I found people we coming to my studio for not only Pilates but for divorce advice.
Fast forward a few years. I was in a relationship that was toxic even though I did not really realize it at the time.
I was a single mom, business owner and I was exhausted depleted and barely hanging on. My pilates studio which was once a passion has begun to suck my soul dry.
I was driving to my studio one morning and a voice in my head, maybe an intuitive hit said to me you have to let this business go, there is something bigger out there you are meant to be doing, you need to make a greater impact.
At the time I was unsure what that “ something “ else was.
A few weeks later my son Caleb passed away very suddenly unexpectedly. It shattered me.
A few weeks after Caleb passed away Covid hit and the world was shut down.
I worked to heal, to take care of my daughter who had just lost her brother and best friend and figure out how to survive the emotional grief and also how to survive financially with a business that was forced to be closed.
I soon moved in with my long term boyfriend because being in my home without my was son there was to much to bear. Once we moved in with this man, I realized how toxic and abusive this man was. I wanted to leave but always found myself constantly getting pulled back in because of what I know now is a trauma bond.
Since my business was closed I began taking a Divorce Coaching certification and subsequently a handful of more certifications. During my Divorce Certification is when I truly realized or allowed myself to realize I was in a relationship with an abusive Narcissist.
I am not sure if I ever would have have gotten away from this man or survived this if it was it for my sister. She was patient every time I got pulled back in the relationship, when I was ready she and her husband helped my daughter and I move in with them until we could find a new home. They helped us settle in, heal and thrive again.
As I continued to heal, I let go of my pilates studio, let go of a community I had once loved and thought I would grow old in and moved to a new community and created a new life for my daughter and a life I love to live.
I now have become a leader an expert in the field of Divorce and Narcissistic Abuse recovery. I helped women each and every step of their way through their own path of healing and thriving through Narcissistic Abuse and Divorce
My mission is to give to each and every one of my clients what my sister gave to me during and through my own path to healing.
My defining moment was that Intuitive hit or voice in my head I head I heard years ago telling me I needed to make a greater impact.. I am grateful and full of love every day that I get to help others heal and then thrive though what will be the most difficult times of their lives. My road to get here was dark, devastating and scary to say the least, but I made it though and I will next spend the rest of my life helping others do the same.
I miss my son everyday and my life will never be the same without him in it but I know he is with us everyday and I know how proud he is for all we have healed from and accomplished.

Certified Divorce Coach, Advanced Grief Recovery Specialist, Narcissistic Abuse Recovery Coach, Brainspotting Therapist, Trauma Coach
Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
The most helpful thing is the women I helped. My passion and drive to help others who are where I once was heal and create their new lives.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I am a recovering people pleaser, I want to help everyone by fixing everything for them.
Part of my journey in my coaching practice was learning to support, guide and mentor my clients to help them discover and choose their own paths and support them on their journeys to reach their goals rather than to do it for them.
