Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ronnita Nance. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Ronnita, thanks for joining us today. Do you wish you had started sooner?
Looking back, I often ponder that question. As a young child, I was always drawn to the world of art, sketching away in my notebooks and losing myself in colors and shapes. It was a passion that followed me through college, where I immersed myself in figure drawing classes and explored the depths of artistic expression.
However, life had a way of sidetracking my artistic pursuits after college. Responsibilities, obligations, and the relentless march of time seemed to push my creative aspirations to the sidelines. In hindsight, I do wish I had recognized the true gift of art earlier in my life and made a concerted effort to prioritize it amidst life’s chaos.
For 27 long years, the paintbrush lay dormant, gathering dust in a corner of my mind. It wasn’t until four years ago that I finally rediscovered my passion for creating. Picking up that paintbrush for the first time felt like reconnecting with an old friend – familiar yet exhilaratingly new. It was a pivotal moment that reignited my creative flame and reminded me of the profound joy and fulfillment that art brings to my life.
So, to answer your question, while part of me wishes I had never let go of art in the first place, I also believe that my journey unfolded exactly as it was meant to. Each twist and turn, every moment of absence and rediscovery, has shaped me into the artist I am today. And for that, I am endlessly grateful.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My journey into the world of Fluid art has been a colorful tapestry of experiences and passions. From a young age, I was captivated by drawing. This fascination eventually led me to take drawing classes, then four years ago I decided I wanted to teach paint and sip parties.
Today, as artist, I am proud to offer painting classes in person and virtual. Whether it’s fluid or whimsical art, my goal is share my gift of art.
I also offer DIY art kits for a self directed experience.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative, for me, is the sense of solace and fulfillment that art offers. In a world filled with stressors and uncertainties, having the ability to immerse myself in the creative process serves as a powerful outlet. It’s a space where I can channel my emotions, thoughts, and experiences into something tangible and meaningful.
There’s a unique kind of magic in witnessing a blank canvas transform into a reflection of my thoughts. With each creation, I feel a weight being lifted off my shoulders as I pour myself into the creation before me.
But perhaps what is most rewarding is the knowledge that my art has the potential to touch others. Whether it’s through evoking emotions, sparking introspection, or simply offering a moment of respite from the chaos of everyday life, knowing that my work has the power to soothe the soul of another is gratifying.
In essence, the most rewarding aspect of being a creative is the ability to harness the therapeutic power of art and share it with the world. It’s a gift that brings me fulfillment, and one that I am endlessly grateful for.
Alright – so here’s a fun one. What do you think about NFTs?
As someone with limited experience with NFTs, my view on them is somewhat cautious and reserved. While I recognize the potential for NFTs to revolutionize the way we perceive and exchange digital art, my interactions with the concept have primarily been through social media, where unfortunately, scams and misinformation abound.
For now, I choose to approach the subject with caution and diligence, avoiding the risks associated with the unregulated spaces of social media. However, I remain curious about the possibilities that NFTs present and am open to further exploration and understanding of this evolving landscape.
