We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Yoa Ruiz. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Yoa below.
Yoa, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
In 2018, I was approached by Grammy-Award winning artist “King of Salsa” RICHIE RAY about designing an album cover for his masterpiece “Salsa, Jazz & Beethoven!” The project evolved into much more and I ended up creating a one-of-a-kind original artwork, designing the album cover and inside pages, rebranding his logo, creating a website and apparel.

Yoa, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I believe that “Creativity” comes from “The Creator”. I am constantly reflecting on God’s Word for daily inspiration and guidance. Some of the main themes of my work are focused on music, nature, love and life. All of these elements become fruitful and can be enjoyed when looked at through the lens that we are God’s creation built for His purposes.
We’d love to hear your thoughts on NFTs. (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
As technology continues to evolve, artists will continue to evolve along with it. NFTs and digital art have become an important medium for expressing ideas and concepts. I personally still like to work with traditional instruments like oil paint and canvas more than anything else. Even though I do work daily with computers and do graphic design projects, when it comes to fine art I am a traditionalist. There is something special about the primitive exercise of creating with my bare hands. No technology. Painting with paint and brush the same way it has been done for 100s of years.
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
It is important for the public in general to visit art exhibits in person. Technology has provided many great tools like virtual tours but there is nothing like being immersed in a real life work of art.
