We recently connected with Gale Salvo and have shared our conversation below.
Gale, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I have had the dream of wanting to be a superstar since I was a little girl but as an adult, it registered for me that I wanted to pursue this professionally after one of my first performances. Seeing the way the crowd was engaged with me and the adrenaline rush I got from being on stage gave me a feeling that was unexplainable. I knew from that moment on this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am Gale Salvo, a 27 year old female rapper, singer, songwriter from Long Island, NY and raised in New Haven, CT. I come from a musical background so music is naturally bred in me from writing songs since I was 10 to singing in the choir, to winning spoken word competitions and it continues, What became the start of my professional music career was me playing around freestyling with my son’s father and his brothers. They’re response to me reignited something in me and I haven’t looked back since. The disciplinary portion of this stems from “how bad do you really want it?” Becoming a serious music artist entails practicing your craft and challenging yourself. I offer great music to all my fans but I’m also releasing Gale Salvo merch very soon. What sets me apart from other artists is that I have my own sound as well as my own look. I am most proud of my evolution as an artist and what I’ve accomplished as well as how far I have come. I want my fans/followers to know that I am Gale Salvo aka the Strong Storm. Thank ya for following and supporting me, it keeps me going and gives me the confidence I need to know I can win.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is how many people are inspired by what you create. People from everywhere in the world of all different cultures, ages, shapes and sizes want to meet you, know more about you through a song. That amazes me.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
A lesson I had to learn is to not take anything personal in this business, The backstory of this ties into just my growth as an artist over time. Everything is about trial and error and I’ve had to learn what to do and what not to do. Not taking things to heart and treating my music career as an actual business is the best thing I could have ever done.
