We recently connected with Taylor Davenport and have shared our conversation below.
Taylor, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today So, let’s imagine that you were advising someone who wanted to start something similar to you and they asked you what you would do differently in the startup-process knowing what you know now. How would you respond?
If I could go back and start over I would put more into learning from other photographers in the business, instead of going to art school for a few years. I did it the hard way and taught myself everything from Photography to the business side, I failed a lot and learned a whole lot.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am an Intimate Wedding & lifestyle photographer based out of Golden, Colorado. I have been with my amazing partner Sergio for 11 years. We both are huge animal lover. We have 2 dogs a pug named Harley and a Husky Named Timber, 2 cats Nova & Athena. Plus, Carl our bearded dragon, and lots of plants! I have always loved nature and the outdoors, how can you not living in beautiful Colorado. We do a lot of hiking and camping in the beautiful mountains.
My passion for photography started at a young age, I started doing film Photography and developing my own photos before I even picked up a digital camera. I still shoot film for fun and have my own darkroom. I never thought that my love for photography would turn into my career, where I get to photograph people in love in the places they love. As a photographer I love to create images that embodies real raw emotions in life. I want my clients to just be themselves as I simply observe with my camera. I love to be creative by making your photos feel like pieces of art.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding thing for me as a photographer is capturing such intimate moments in my clients lives that will be shown and cherished for generations.
We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
I never thought that I would be able to be a full time photogrpaher until I saw all the hard work I put into my business and how much it started to grow. I was working unfulfilling jobs just to put it all back into my business. I was running myself very thin and knew I need to make the leap and go full time. The second I choose to put all my energy into myself and my business it start to grow even more. I have been full time for almost 2 years and I can say it has been the best decision I could have ever made. Yes it was scary! Putting your soul into something and it failing was always in the back of my mind, but living my dream was worth the fear.
