We recently connected with Paige Cole Rodriguez and have shared our conversation below.
Paige, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
I believe the biggest I took in my professional career is when I was beginning my online coaching business journey. I had been positioning myself as a mindset & manifestation coach – and was not getting ANY traction at all. The thing was is I was hiding a HUGE part of my life… because I felt like if people knew this thing- that they would never hire me, respect me, take me serious or want to work with me.
The risk I took was what I call ‘coming out of the stripper closet’. At that time I had been a stripper for 11 years and publicly never told anyone about it for fear of shame and judgement. I decided to take a risk, own who TF I was and pivot my business to being a ‘Stripper Business Coach’ where I helped dancers with their money mindset, and how to build businesses outside of the club. My business took off.
That was in 2019- and my business grew and evolved from there to creating an NLP coaching certification, speaking certification, writing two books, hosting sold out retreats and more.
While I no longer am in the coaching industry all the skills and lessons I learned from that time have helped me in my new endevour of growing my life insurance agency!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
👋🏽 I’m Paige! I’m 34 and live in San Diego with my husband.
I was single for six years before meeting him on bumble last April-and then got married 8 months later 💍
We are real estate investors & developers, currently managing $3.5M in assets.
I was a stripper for 15 years. In 2019 I “came out of the stripper closet” in my coaching business, niched down…and it skyrocketed🚀
I am a speaker, podcast host & 2x author.
I am a trainer of NLP, master mindset coach, reiki master and breathwork facilitator.
I love healing and growing through ayahuasca and kambo 🐸
I am a 6/2 Generator in HD and listen to when my sacral is LIT.
My favorite things to jam out on are: manifestation, energetics, money honey😉, entrepreneurship, business building and being unapologetically you.
I currently am growing my insurance agency: actively hiring entrepreneurs looking for a part time income stream, or a new career🛡️
I started my online business journey back in 2017 when I went on my very first international trip that saved my life. At the time I was addicted to drugs and that was the first time I had a clear head in a week. I made a promise to myself to do better… and when I got home I completely changed my life.
I wanted to create an online business so I could work from anywhere and be able to travel. I found the world of online coaching and created a massively successful coaching business where my niche was in coaching strippers on their money mindset and business building. While my content spoke to strippers majority of my clients were not even dancers – they just deeply resonated with my authenticity.
It evolved to me creating an NLP certification, speaker training, selling out retreats and all the things. It was a powerful time in my career- I learned a lot about myself, business and online marketing. I helped a lot of women and I made a lot of money.
I started craving something different. Something more structured where I didn’t have to share so much of myself online in order to get clients. I needed a social media cleanse and a break from the world of coaching…
I stumbled upon insurance and to be honest when I first started thinking about the insurance industry I was like….. ehhhh insurance… really🤔
It felt so stale boring and dominated by old white men😂
The more I leaned into my curiosity and let the interest develop… the more really great things I kept realizing about being in the insurance industry.
Coming from someone who has firsthand seen the financial downfall of what can happen when a family member dies … I deeply believe in the value of the product, and honestly think everyone should have life insurance.
✨As a coach: I appreciate that I still get to help provide people peace of mind.
✨As a business woman: I LOVE the step by step system this business model has.
✨As an entrepreneur: I value the required evolution of myself to create my success
It was a slow curious burn to get me to be on board with insurance… and I am so glad I kept feeling into it.
🛡 Discovering the insurance world was a GAME-CHANGER for me.
I still work on my own schedule and determine my own income, and:
❌ requires no guessing and hoping that your strategy will work
❌ makes social media OPTIONAL (you can still make a full income without posting online ever again, if you wanted)
✅ have proven systems and scripts to build my business and make money
✅ get to have conversations that are structured and step-by-step, instead of being guided by the client and different every day
✅ get access to customer leads who have expressed information in the products already
I am most proud right now of allowing myself to start over and to listen when things weren’t feeling in alignment.
My husband said to me the other day while he was watching me get some work done:
“It’s awesome how all your skills from your coaching business are being transferred over to your insurance business”
That hit.
It’s not starting over. It’s utilizing your skills, expertise and energy into a new industry.
You see, for months I struggled with feeling like I didn’t want to start over. Even trying to make old ways of doing things try to work again to avoid the “start over”
Square peg. Round hole.🤪
I had grown my coaching business for the last five years, invested over 6 figures into my training, my craft and my professional development – and I felt some kind of way about just walking away from it.
…but that’s the beauty in a re-frame 😉
I get to utilize all my skills and expertise from coaching and develop my new insurance agency:
🔹Running Sales Calls & product presentations
🔹Self discipline and creating a routine and schedule that works for me
🔹Entrepreneurs mindset and coaching myself through the “hard things”
🔹Connection, building rapport with clients, and ongoing client management
🔹Utilize NLP language patterns in my appointment setting calls & more
🔹Building a team of powerhouse agents and leaders
💥There 100% is a learning curve with the products and the new business model and all the things, AND that’s a normal part of any transition.
Insurance is a ‘fresh energy’ industry for me that’s outside of coaching. It’s an OG industry that’s been around forever. It’s a product I full heartedly believe people need to have, period.
The biggest takeaway for people who are reading this would be:
👉🏼Your path in life is NEVER a waste, it was always meant for you to learn some valuable lessons.
It’s what you choose to do with those lessons and how deeply you are willing to listen to what lights you up.
It is safe to transition into the next phase of your life and release what once served you, that no longer has its place✨
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
