We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kiran Bhat. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kiran below.
Kiran, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
Landscape photography is a favorite type of photography for me. Capturing different landscapes helps me combine my desire to travel and do photography. The gear can be heavy at times and the nature is not always cooperative but when things line up just the right way, it’s an opportunity to capture something special!
Kiran, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I don’t provide an active service for the most part as photography is an escape for me and something I can enjoy without being under the pressure to make it a business venture.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I think this happens in many fields but more so in photography. When you start out you tend to copy the styles of artists that inspire you. It’s really difficult to find your own interests and your own vision. I had revisit my topics of interests several times to craft a style I uniquely enjoyed.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Most rewarding experience is when you see your vision come to fruition. This is true especially in landscape photography that involves traveling to a new destination. There are many unknowns and many things have to fall in place so printing the pictures captured is a very rewarding aspect of the whole journey!
