Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Champ Panupong Techawongthawon. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Champ Panupong , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear your thoughts about family businesses.
First of all, one of the reason I become who I am today because I don’t follow my family path. I don’t want to do my family business. Personally, I think doing what you love, it will fulfill your soul. I always tell my self to start my own journey not follow my family journey.
I want my children to select their own path but if they want to do my business and like what I do. Of course, I’m not gonna say no to them. I’m more than happy to guide them to continue this path.
Family business is not your business. You have to follow their guide or system that already had established. If you have to work with your siblings, it might not be a good ideal because money can break family.
Champ Panupong , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Champ Panupong Techawongthawon is a freelance motion designer from Thailand who currently resides in sunny Los Angeles, California. Being Thai, he went through a phase of becoming a monk (and he became one for a whole a month). Shortly after, he moved to Boston in 2014 to pursue his American dream. In 2017, he graduated with MA in Motion Media from Savannah College of Art and Design. Since then he moved to Boston to work in an animation/production house called Black Math. Then in December of 2018, he moved to Los Angeles. In 2019, he turned freelance. He specializes a lot in shapes, type, branding and abstract 2D animation.
After Covid era, my freelance life has exploded. My gigs/works instantly come from direct client, studio and agency. Then, I realized that I should build my own team so I can take more projects when any client reached out to me.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
For me, doing your best on all the projects and respect people who you work with. I always believe that the quality of your work will help you to build reputation. Not just the work itself but you need to be humble and have a great attitude. People will love to work with you again and again.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Yess I do! I just want to provide for my family. Period! I don’t want to be the world famous. I just want to do a great job and get paid. If we talk about a particular goal for my creative journey, I would have one goal. I always always make sure I love the work that I produce for my clients. I will make sure I’ll do the best work as much as I can no matter what. I’ll make sure it will inspire people with the work creating one way or another.
