Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Amy Morken. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Amy, thanks for joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
Early on, aged 2-3, I was drawing full figured ppl adorned with jewelry, expressions. I’ve been a lifelong observer of the figure.
We’d love to hear your thoughts on NFTs. (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
There’s room for everything in the art world.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Read your contracts! I had a lovely early career in my 20s, showed with and was represented by a woman named Caren Golden who was an incredible dealer. I naively switched to a different gallery that seemed brighter and shinier and signed a very strict contract that I never should have. Needless to say I got burned and exited the art world for years with my tail between my legs. I continued to work very privately at home, until 2020 when I got a new studio space with a wealth of creative neighbors. It’s been wonderful to have a space solely for art and thinking.
