Amber, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What sort of legacy are you hoping to build. What do you think people will say about you after you are gone, what do you hope to be remembered for?

As I reflect on my journey, I realize it’s been one heck of a rollercoaster of life-altering traumas and moments of my life that are so beautiful, I can’t imagine living any other life. I have yet to have a straightforward path in life. Still, with each wrong turn at the end of chapter in my life, I’ve gathered clarity in what I want from life, gained wisdom, and discovered new found resilience. Not long ago, I chose to live a lifestyle that embraces pleasure in any form I choose to explore safely and in an informed manner. I also decided to do so unapologetically. It took a while to understand that I was worthy of living a life that was fulfilling to me on terms that didn’t overstep my boundaries. Let me tell you, once I understood it, I’m happy to say there has been no going back! Living in my power and going after what I wanted and that I could achieve with the right tribe around me, I was hard to stop. I wish it weren’t this way for me and so many others, but for myself, my growth came from learning to trust myself in challenging areas of my life. I’m not here to showcase a flawless story but to share a genuine narrative of overcoming obstacles and embracing self-discovery.

I envision my legacy as inspiring, especially for women navigating our complex worlds. It’s a testament that we can live pleasure-filled lives; we deserve pleasure-filled, successful lives
(however you define success) and do it all while being fiercely and unapologetically you. There’s no shame in claiming pleasure and understanding what brings you joy. That’s the essence of a fulfilling life.

I encourage whoever reads this to embrace your journey with all its imperfections, and to pursue your desires fearlessly. Make the calls you are afraid of, and write the email you don’t expect to get returned. Ask for what you need to project your voice further to impact the world positively. It’s about living authentically and enjoying every aspect of life, including the pleasure that is rightfully yours. Amber, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

Absolutely, I’d be delighted to share my story and mission of QUIVR with your readers. I’m Amber Joy, the founder and CEO of QUIVR, an app-based, empowering community focused on women’s pleasure. Although a lot of our resources focus on women’s sexual pleasure, we are careful to call out the broad spectrum of pleasure and give women the tools they need to pursue the pleasure they desire and deserve safely. My journey into this unique industry wasn’t a conventional one. My background as an HR executive, coupled with my personal experiences (divorce, sexual trauma, and health challenges), led me down this path. I realized the profound impact of not just surviving but thriving. I enjoy being a woman; I embrace every bit of it and want my fellow sisters to feel the same. So many of us have accepted unnecessary stress and struggle as a normalized factor of our lives; QUIVR intends to change that gross misconception. We can have pleasure-filled lives and still find success in other aspects of our lives.

QUIVR caters to busy, career-driven women, many of whom are navigating complex life stages from discovering our pleasure needs and navigating life pre and post-pregnancy to other life changes such as menopause. QUIVR is addressing how our lives impact our pleasure. Our services range from comprehensive digital resources to interactive workshops and personalized coaching sessions—each tool aimed at demystifying pleasure and intimacy. In March of 2024, we are launching our new app-based community to make it even more convenient for women to connect, support one another, and gain the tools they need to support their pleasure journey.

What sets QUIVR apart is our commitment to creating a sisterhood where sexual wellness is not just an afterthought but a lifestyle. When women come together, amazing things happen; there is power in embracing an uplifting community and QUIVR has prioritized cultivating a welcoming community. We understand our members’ unique challenges – from balancing demanding careers to personal life changes – and tailor our resources to meet these needs directly. Our platform is a haven where women can learn, grow, and embrace their pleasure without judgment. Have you ever wondered how to navigate your sex life after menopause? How about after a baby? Have you ever had a burning question about the “normalcy” of your desire or how to live out a fantasy safely? QUIVR explores those questions in a relatable way. QUIVR puts each woman on a customized path designed to meet where she’s at in life. We are firm believers in innovation, and our members count on us to conveniently bring them the information they need.

I’m incredibly proud of our community – a sisterhood of bold, empowered women supporting each other’s journeys to self-discovery and fulfillment. We’re not just about providing education; we’re about transforming lives in a sustainable way.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?

In my journey, one of the most pivotal lessons I had to unlearn was the notion that choosing a career path meant being locked into it for life. Growing up, I believed that once you started down a particular professional road, you were committed to it, come rain or shine. But life taught me differently. I realized that making a midlife pivot is not only okay, but it can also be incredibly healthy and fulfilling.

My early professional life began with a business marketing degree, followed by further studies in business administration. I dabbled in marketing roles, then shifted to human resources. But my path didn’t end there. Today, I stand before you as a tech entrepreneur, driven by a mission to empower women in their pleasure lives. My journey taught me that there’s no one path set in stone.

I like to think of it as trying on different dresses – if they all fit, why not take them all home? It’s not about being indulgent; it’s about following a path that brings joy and purpose. Imagine driving the same long, dangerous road every day, knowing there are safer, shorter roads to your destination. Sticking to the familiar path seems rather irrational when you think of it that way, doesn’t it?

This realization was liberating, especially when I took the leap and created QUIVR. It taught me that we’re not bound to the choices we make early in life. We can change our minds, explore new avenues, and pivot towards what truly brings us happiness and fulfillment. And that’s what I did – I gave myself permission to pivot, to embrace new opportunities, and to grow beyond the confines of traditional career paths. It’s a lesson I hope to pass on to others: You have the power to redefine your journey, at any stage in life.

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?

A great deal of resources have profoundly shaped my journey. The ones that really stand out for me are the ones that make up the ecosystem of entrepreneurial support in my life. The entrepreneurial path can be isolating, but the support I get from my entrepreneurial community has been invaluable. If I had to choose only one piece of advice, I’d tell anyone thinking of starting a business to actively engage with the resources in your city, including business cohorts and accelerators. They can provide crucial guidance and business and emotional support. I cannot stress this enough: you may be a solopreneur for the moment, but you should not go it entirely alone.

When QUIVR was an idea scribbled in a journey, a close sister-friend of mine – (who I won’t name but knows who she is)– was a huge cheerleader in encouraging me to push forward. She believed in me from the very start and introduced me to SistahBiz Global Network. Here, I joined the Growth and Scale cohort and met eight extraordinary Black Women entrepreneurs. These women quickly became like sisters, offering support through personal and professional challenges. From their willingness to jump on a last-minute call to help you resolve a business matter to celebrate one another’s business wins, these women are my rocks, and I’ll always love them for it.

SistahBiz was more than just a business resource; it gave me a sisterhood, a haven to vent, celebrate, and share victories. The importance of having a tribe that understands and supports your journey cannot be overstated.

I am privileged to be part of Access Mode’s third Customer, Product, and Operations accelerator. The experience of learning alongside brilliant founders and building exceptional BIPOC-founded businesses has been eye-opening. The program’s support has enhanced my personal growth and QUIVR’s development. I cannot wait to see the positive evolution of QUIVR and the rest of my cohort’s businesses by the end of the programming. With the founders I am surrounded by, I have no doubt our demo day will be a hotbed of up-and-coming tech businesses to watch!
