Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Raigan Cummings. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Raigan, appreciate you joining us today. Do you take vacations? Why or why not?
Absolutely, I believe taking vacations is essential for maintaining a healthy work-life balance! As a business owner, I do prioritize vacations, but it does require meticulous planning. I make sure to keep my clients informed when I plan for time away so they too can plan accordingly and secondly I have to ensure reliable systems in place before I leave so that my clients can continue to book with me even when I am out of office.
Interestingly, I’ve found a way to incorporate my business into my trips. By offering photo sessions in beautiful travel destinations, like Destin, Florida and the Outer Banks, North Carolina – I can continue generating revenue while enjoying quality time with my family. This approach not only allows me to stay connected to my business, but also adds a sense of flexibility to my vacations.
My advice to fellow entrepreneurs feeling hesitant about stepping away is to invest time in building a strong team, implementing efficient systems, and maybe even find a way to incorporate your travels in the most beneficial way for you and your business. This way, you can confidently take breaks knowing that your business is in capable hands, and you can still contribute even while away. It’s about finding a balance that suits both your personal and professional life.

Raigan, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My journey into the world of photography is a bit of a personal story. After welcoming my first baby into the world, I made the decision not to return to my graphic design position and instead chose to follow my long-standing passion for photography.
I’ve had an interest in photography since I was young, and it became a focal point for me again in 2015. Officially launching 1015 Photography in 2016, I found my niche in capturing the beautiful chaos and joy of growing families. As a mother of four, I understand the unique dynamics of family life and the challenges that come with getting those perfect shots with little ones in tow.
What sets 1015 Photography apart is not just my technical skills, but the genuine patience and ability to connect with young children during sessions. I take pride in creating a comfortable and enjoyable environment, ensuring that each family’s unique personality shines through in the photos.
One of the aspects I’m most proud of is building strong relationships with my clients. I see myself not just as a photographer but as a documentarian of their journey, capturing the many milestones that come with family life. I cherish the opportunity to grow with my clients, from maternity shoots to newborn sessions and beyond.
For potential clients or anyone interested in my work, I want them to know that 1015 Photography is more than just a service; it’s a collaboration. I’m here to make the process not only seamless but enjoyable, understanding the significance of each moment and the value of preserving those memories for a lifetime.

Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
Staying connected with clients and building brand loyalty is key for me, and I’ve found email marketing to be a game-changer for my business. I offer clients the option to sign up for my email list, and trust me, it’s like unlocking the VIP lounge.
By sending out newsletters, I keep them in the loop with exclusive sneak peeks, major business updates, and early access to promotions and bookings. Treating my email subscribers as the ultimate insiders, they get the scoop before anything hits social media.
This approach not only makes clients feel like a priority but also fosters a sense of community. The loyalty I’ve gained from this strategy has been incredible. There’s something special about having that direct line of communication, and it’s proven to be a fantastic way to show my appreciation for their ongoing support. So, when it comes to keeping the connection strong, my email list is where the real magic happens!

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being a photographer is the perfect blend of passion and practicality. I’ve always been wired as a creative soul, constantly seeking outlets for self-expression. What makes this journey so fulfilling is the realization that I’ve found a way to not only satisfy my creative cravings but also provide for my family through my art.
Capturing moments, telling stories through my lens, and witnessing the joy it brings to my clients is immensely gratifying. There’s a unique satisfaction in knowing that my creative endeavors contribute to both my personal fulfillment and the well-being of my family. It’s not just a profession; it’s a harmonious balance of passion and practicality that makes each photo session a rewarding step in my creative journey.
