We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Vincent Charlton a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Vincent , appreciate you joining us today. Are you happier as a creative? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job? Can you talk to us about how you think through these emotions?
Whenever it comes to art, I have always been connected to it. I love being able to create things that make people stop in awe. I have always wanted art to be a career and in the last few months I started to pursue it full time.

Vincent , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
To everyone, my name is Vincent, but I go by Vinny. I have always been into art, drawing since I was little. I have within the last year started working with ethically sourced bones and making beautiful art pieces with those bones. I fell into it by just wanting to try something new.
I think what sets me apart from everyone else is the love I put into everything I do. My heart is in every art piece I make. So everyone who has a piece I made takes a part of my heart and love home with them.
The thing I am most proud of is making connections with people who I have met while in the oddities industry. Every single person is unique and I get to hear their stories. I wouldn’t be doing this if I didn’t take a risk on myself.
I take so much pride in my art that I know others will love it so much. I am so certain that my art could make others happy.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
My most rewarding part of being an artist is being able to meet so many other people who have diverse yet similar interests that I have. I get to hear everyone’s stories and they’re all so special. As an artist I get to do what I love and share it with others.

Have you ever had to pivot?
Whenever it came to wanting to do my art I had to make a lot of difficult decisions. I am a father, so quitting my job to do art as a full time career was a major pivot in my life. It was one of the scariest, yet best decisions I have ever made. I get to create now, and even though art is unpredictable, it has made me happier in life.
