We recently connected with Cierra Rosen and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Cierra thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
The Healing Studio was birthed from a chat between two best friends, who desired to create something to fill a need. As busy moms, they wanted a space of safety, serenity, and all things wellness for themselves, and for others.
My friend, and now partner, Mimillia Eisner has been running a successful company, selling organic skin care and wellness products. She was looking for a brick and mortar location to show case her products, and approached me about renting a room to share my gifts out of.
I hold sacred ceremony for others to journey back to themselves, and ultimately heal. I have been a stay at home mother up until now, and have been yearning to share my gifts on a larger scale, The offer sparked my interest, and I was in from the beginning.
We wanted to create somewhere that allowed us to just “breathe”, to feel grounded, centered, and embodied. This idea took on a life of its own, and grew into something so much bigger. Our main mission always stayed the same though. To create a space of safety, where each individual that walks in the door feels seen, and witnessed in their totality. To create a space that not only feels soothing for us, but for everyone. To create a space that everyone comes to for healing themselves.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Cierra Rosen, and I am a mother a beautiful nine year old girl, and a step mother to four children. I got into the wellness and holistic healing industry as a way to heal myself. At the time I was struggling with post partum depression and anxiety, and developed an autoimmune disorder after the birth of my daughter. It was then that I found yoga, clean eating, meditation and reiki, which became staples in my journey back to myself.
I spent many years working on my own healing, and collecting certifications for various modalities along the way. I am a certified yoga teacher, sound bath practitioner, cacao ceremony facilitator, and reiki practitioner. I am currently working on my breath work certification, and plan to bring that into my work as well.
After many years of being a stay at home mom, I had a longing for something more. I yearned for fulfillment, an outlet for my creativity, and something that made me jump out of bed in the morning with excitement. After years of inquiry I realized that my calling was to be of service. To hold the space for others to heal themselves, and to take people on uncharted journeys back to themselves.
We lose so much ourself throughout this life. We conform ourselves to fit into society. We adopt limiting patterns and habits to make sure others like us and that we please and fit in. We run from our emotions instead of listening to their messages. The journey of coming back to yourself is wading through these waters, releasing out dated conditioning, and embracing who you truly are despite what anyone thinks.
My mission at The Healing Studio is to create a space of safety, where each individual feels heard and witnessed and their totality. I intend to be who I needed back when I started my journey. I think what makes me unique is that I guide people back to the healer within their own selves. I don’t pretend to be a guru who has all of the answers, and pretend I’m above everyone because I meditate. I show up as my authentic self, and can relate to many because I’ve been through a lot in this life, and I made it through to the other side.
The retail aspect of The Healing Studio is pioneered by my partner Mimillia, which will carry unique wellness products, jewelry, and rare crystals. We value sustainability, and try our best to purchase from woman and BIPOC small businesses, use sustainable packaging whenever possible, and minimize use of plastic and paper. We love Mother Earth, and intend to care for her through our processes, and give back in various ways.
Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
I met my partner, Mimillia Eisner, about six years ago through our daughters at school. We got the girls together for a play date and immediately hit it off with our shared love of astrology and spirituality. Over the years, our relationship slowly grew, and I really looked up to and valued Mimillia. She taught me a lot about life and spirituality in the beginning years of our friendship, and then after some time I caught up and was able to share back my knowledge. We became closer as time went on, so when she approached me about opening a business together, it wasn’t even a question!
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson I had to unlearn is that I need to push myself at 101% to be successful. I thought that if I wasn’t waking up at 6am to do my morning routine, wasn’t dressed and ready for the day by 8am, and that if I allowed myself to watch one episode of TV in the evening, that I wasn’t successful. I was convinced by every wellness blogger/podcaster, and every “coach”, that how I worked needed to look a certain way if I wanted to be successful. I was using caffeine as a way to power through work and home life, and used staying busy as a way to avoid feeling within.
This way of living led me to burn out over and over again, where I would develop awful brain fog and lack any motivation for my day. I had to unlearn what I had been fed about “the working woman”, and instead tune into my body and find the balance unique to myself.
This is something that I still work on, and am constantly refining. Allowing my nervous system to guide me and show me what feels sustainable and balanced. In doing so I have been able to experience less bouts of burn out, and find enjoyment in my work instead of resentment.
