We recently connected with Christie Lauture and have shared our conversation below.
Christie, appreciate you joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I knew I wanted to be an artist ever since I was 6 years old. I actually have this old journal I had from that age where I wrote that I wanted to be an artist when I grow up and from there my love for art continued to flourish. Towards the end of high school, I started to get more serious about art and decided to get a degree in digital and studio art. At that point, was when I worked on growing my art business professionally and I’ve been working hard to grow it ever since. My business officially became an LLC (Christie Creates LLC.) in the summer of 2022.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hello beautiful beings, my name is Christie Lauture and I am a professional artist born and raised in Maryland. Ever since I was 6 years old, I have been creating art. I would stay up all night drawing people or painting different people and things I thought was beautiful and unique. I simply could not ignore my passion, so I decided to take art classes in high school and later major in art at UNI. In the fall of 2022, I received a bachelor’s degree in digital and studio art from Liberty University and I have been growing my business ever since.
One thing about me is I never liked to say in a box and this is true about my art also. My focus is painting, but I also draw, sculpt, sew, crochet, and do graphic design work as well. I like to refer to myself as the artist of many art forms because it is true. I have so many art forms and to choose one just wouldn’t make me happy. I like to offer all my services to people, which allows me to receive more commission opportunities.
Being a full time artist is not easy, but I love the journey regardless. From talking to new potential clients and making their visions come to life, to problem solving different issues that may occur, I really enjoy it. Besides that, I am also excited to get myself out there more and do some more art for myself. I plan to start a new painting series that is very near and dear to my heart and I can’t wait to share it with the world.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
I believe the most rewarding aspect is being able to create art that makes people feel something. The moment I reveal a completed art work and the look on their face when they receive it is truly rewarding. I love bringing joy to people and I believe it is one of my missions here on earth and why God has given me the abilities that I have. This world is so dark. I just want to be a light and joy to the people around me.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
I think the best thing people can do is share! Networking is very important in this line of work and I believe the best thing society can do is not only buy from us artists, but share our information to others and vice versa. I also believe that our information should not just be shared with potential clients, but also with other artists. Artist should be around other artists so we can learn from each other and grow with each other as a community.
