We were lucky to catch up with Tiffany Vaughn, CPA recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Tiffany thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about the early days of establishing your own firm. What can you share?
8 years ago I was on maternity leave from my amazing accounting firm with my first child. I was sitting on the sofa with a close friend telling her I was planning on starting my own company where I teach individuals and small businesses how to effectively manage their finances. I was very passionate about setting my family up to achieve financial security and abundance, On that sofa, Cents Savvy was formed.
Working for a notable firm, I worked for several years building out what my business has become today, this happening after hours and working on the weekends. I knew I wanted something different. I wanted to be my own business owner, create something from the ground up for my community. After building my brand, creating connections, and deeming the time right, I decided to take the faithful leap to become a full time entrepreneur.
I wouldn’t have done anything differently as my journey was what it was supposed to be. I needed to be in the places at the moments I was. My advice to young professionals is to be the change you want to see and even if it frightens you…”Do it scared.”
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Tiffany Vaughn, Certified Public Accountant and owner of Cents Savvy. I always wanted to be a businesswoman so I studied Finance in undergraduate school at Michigan State University (GO GREEN!) and completed my Masters in Accounting. I worked for 15 years at one of the Big 4 Public Accounting Firms and after making it to Director in the Audit & Assurance practice, made the decision to become a full time entrepreneur in my Company Cents Savvy.

What I want those to know about me is that my mission is to be the top financial resource to individuals and businesses seeking financial stability, growth, & advancement. My firm advocates for our clients and provides them with the resources they need to continue to elevate financially.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I believe giving more than taking has always been my key to accomplishing goals. I want to be known as a trusted advisor to prospective and current clients. I provide valuable relevant content to those to give them information to make more informed financial decisions. Leading with teaching versus leading with selling services has really helped build my reputation within my market.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Social media platforms such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Tiktok, Instagram, YouTube, and Pinterest have really helped me scale all lines of service in my business. Providing valuable content and taking up as much social media real estate as possible, i.e posting valuable content daily, has really helped me grow my following.
