We recently connected with Anthony McRae and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Anthony thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
The first time I knew I wanted to pursue a career as an artist was when I saw Michael Jackson performing on the screen. When I saw his live performance of scream with Janet Jackson It made me so excited. I was watching how Michael conquered the stage. Even in the moments of silence between his sets, all he had to do was breathe and people were going crazy and throwing so many clothes and items at him. When he did “You Rock My World” and he wore the suit on stage and slid his hand into his pocket. There was so much stage presence, and I just knew I wanted to be in front of an audience and on tv. I also knew I wanted to perform with him one time

Anthony, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My family first put me in the industry when I was an infant. Both my brother and I started in pampers commercials. As we grew older, we were then always looked at by many agents. So my mother was constantly approached to put us in many agencies for acting and modeling especially because of how we looked and more. Since then I have walked away from the industry a few times, to do whatever I want to focus on at that time. So what sets me apart is my tenacity, my magical energy, work ethic unlike any other, and overall my love for the arts and creating.
One of my most proud projects was being able to work for marvel and eminem. I was able to be the lead actor in the song venom by eminem which was for the Marvel project Venom movie. It also played opening weekend along with the movie around the world. So a lot of people saw me with the movie, and we got to do a lot of behind the scenes for the movie as well

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I always unlearned everything that was taught to me by school and society. Since I was young, I was always taught fallacies by the world around me. I was taught I was no more than a slave, or my people never created anything, or that I could never be great. As an Indigenous and melanated man in America, I knew there was always something wrong with this being told to me, yet it was continuously force fed down my throat. Unlearning is a never ending process in a world of powers and Deception. As long as there are people chasing Power and control, we must all learn to unlearn what they may feed to the masses. I was made differently by the creator, and my magic he gave me… the alchemy of my dna was always showing me different. I knew that I must trust my intrinsic knowledge and move accordingly.

How did you build your audience on social media?
Well a lot of people on modern social media only care about content that can entertain them longer than 3 seconds. So usually post a lot, and post fun content. People use social media as an escape or a way to live vicariously through others. My social media following increase mainly from the major projects and campaigns that I worked on and not really from the quality of content I was creating, which I always found interesting. Post as much as you can, do whatever you love to do, and your audience will find you even if its not right away.
