We recently connected with Daylee Dunn and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Daylee, thanks for joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
How was Baby Daylee created? When I was younger I have always had a love for dolls. I used to bug my mom all the time to buy me dolls. I remember this one particular time I asked my mom to buy me an American girl doll, which is a pretty expensive doll. The issue that my mom and I would face when shopping for dolls all the time were the lack of dolls that resembled me. There weren’t many at the time that looked like me and that inspired us on our journey to create a doll that would help bridge that gap for little girls like myself. We did not want to just stop there though, aside from creating a doll that girls like my younger self could resemble with, we also wanted to help young girls know how beautiful and valuable they are. We decided to incorporate and add affirmation cards, along with a vision board with our doll. For us this doll can help little girls build their self esteem and it can be used as an educational doll. This unique approach of having a doll that comes with positive affirmation cards and a vision board, can help little girls be empowered and embrace what they look, think and how they think of themselves.

Daylee, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am currently a student athlete here in Los Angeles at Loyola Marymount University. Prior to LMU I graduated from Fresno State University in 3 yrs with a degree in Psychology. I started working on Baby Daylee during the 2020 pandemic. The Baby Daylee doll is a doll intended to bring positivity and self worth to young children. I feel that it is so vital in this world that we live in today, for all kids to know that they are important and that they are worth so much more. We want them to know that society’s opinions and feelings towards them do not matter, because there are always going to be those who want to bring you down in life. When children hear or speak words of encouragement it resonates within them and they start to believe in themselves. This is currently and has always been a part of my life and journey. I believe in saying positive affirmations, writing and drawing your dreams down. As a student athlete you stumble across a lot of highs and lows throughout your career. I’ve been through a tremendous amount of adversity within my journey as a student athlete starting all the way back to high school. One moment you’re excelling, then the next moment you may be struggling and going through a challenging time, but having that constant belief in you and your abilities is so important. That is what has gotten me through those hard moments along with my faith and belief in God. This is why I am proud of Baby Daylee because I am not just selling something that I do not believe in. This is my life and all my beliefs and I just want to help the next generation of kids to dream big and to chase after all their dreams. I want them to know their self worth and that they are good enough. Baby Daylee is here to make a difference and an impact in this world, to be a light and an encouragement to young girls.

We’d love to hear your thoughts about selling platforms like Amazon/Etsy vs selling on your own site.
I currently only sell my product on my website. I’m still trying to get Baby Daylee out there still trying to build our platform on social media. I tried selling it on Amazon but it was incredibly hard to setup and navigate for us.

Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
What fostering brand loyalty means to me is selling something that is meaningful and this is what Baby Daylee means to me. Baby Daylee represents hope, inspiration, and vision for everyone.
I also try to keep in touch with my clients when they purchase a doll by asking if they don’t mind sharing photos of their children playing with the doll so we can add it to our website.
